True. Pullo also has the psycho factor going at times. Both die. KOC you watch Extras?

I watched it last year. I watched the first one and was annoyed by it.

I might get back into it. that catch line thing was supposed to be annoying and it worked. I couldn't stand it anymore.

The Vortex!
By far the best episode of the entire series.

Great television!

I am getting really tired of not being able to discuss this show with people at work.

I'm really looking forward to next week. Brutus and Cassius vs the Second Triumvirate.
Right on. The "proscription" should be fun to watch as they make a list of rich people to kill and steal their money to pay for the army.

Don't like the "new" Octavian. The original actor and writing had him as bright and cunning, though he did remind me of Doogie Howser.

The new guy seems to be written to be more like the English prince in Braveheart. I kept waiting for somebody to throw Octavian's friend out a window.

I agree. This new guy that is playing Octavian is way too wimpy and efemenate. I don't know if Octavian was this way in real life.

He was kinda sickly in real life. But as devious as they come.

The devious part is what I think the writers are missing with the new actor. The first year Octavian was always on top of the political maneuvering.

The actor, Simon Woods, is kind of like a poor girl's Paul Bettany( Wimbeldon,Firewall,A Knights Tale).

I saw a show last night on the Military channel about the sea battle between Octavian, Anthony and Cleopetra and that is exactly how he was described as well as sickly.

I found this, an interesting time line of events. Be warned there may be spoilers here for how the show plays out.

I still think he is on top of the political maneuvering. How is he not? He stormed the Senate, took control and brokered the 2nd Triumverate with Antony knowing that he would be defeated if he didn't do something.

He's just as calculating as ever, and is having Pullo get Vorenus to broker peace in the streets as well.

The brokering with Antony was done by Atia with Agrippa after Octavian admitted that he didn't know what to do.

The actor and the writing, to me at least, just don't portray the same shrewd personality that the first guy did. Even if they are trying to paint him as calculating it doesn't look or sound right. He looks like he's whining all the time.

I don't know. The new guy just isn't very convincing. But characters change on TV all the time depending on the audience popularity polls and the strength of the actors agent.

I agree, but he is only 19 years old so he is going to have moments of not knowing what to do.

None of that was shown. Octavian and Agrippa were sort of stuck on what to do next and then Atia entered the room. In the next scene, Atia is arriving at Antony's camp.

I took that to mean that Octavian had the idea to reach out to Antony as an ally and he sent Atia to deliver his message. There was no inference that Atia was the one who instigated the truce between Octavian and Antony.

Exactly as I took it. That Atia was enlisted by Octavian to bring Antony around to his will.
