I totally assumed that Attia worked that out. I could be wrong. I also liked the younger Octavian as well. He had his brain on fast forward all the time. I dont feel that with the new one.

Personally, I think Attia was used for one thing and one thing only--to allow Octavian and Agrippa through Antony's defenses. Roman soldiers would be hard-pressed to attack their commander's former lover, regardless of who she brought with her. She is a noble, after all.

What is so fascinating and so utterly brilliant about this show is how it incorporates all the famous events and stories of history and Shakespeare without actually showing them. Right after Caesar is knifed down, I was totally enthralled, but ready to groan when he said 'Et tu, Brute?' Instead, we didn't hear it. I was curious as to how they would stage the speeches Brutus and Antony delivered to the citizens after the murder. Instead, they came inside and dealt with the aftermath. I mean, absolute brilliant television. Leave all those expectations there, fulfill them, but do so in a completely different way.

I agree. I was waiting for both "{et tu brute" and "friends, romans, countrymen, lend me your ears..." and was glad they left that out while still sticking to those verisions of the story.

That was a great episode. They keep getting better and better.

Loved the irony in Brutus getting killed via multiple stab wounds from several different people.

Good episode, I agree. Sucks to be Jocasta.

I wish the battles between Brutus/Cassius and Octavian/Antony had been more historically accurate, but I can understand why they did it the way they did it. To save money, I expect. Still great T.V.

Out of all the battles that have happened in this show (and there has been a few), last night's was the first that they actually showed some of the carnage. Normally they would just skip to the aftermath.

Man, I loved that freaking episode.

Titus Pullo is the best character on anything. He's my freaking hero.

I heart this show...

Octavia is pretty tasty...that was a nice little addition.

Unfortunately, everything is a repeat when a show like the Oscars is on.

The new episode was great. I'm highly disappointed that they had Pullo do what he did though. It kind of ruined his "gentlemen solider" persona they worked so hard to give him this season.

Giving Attia the shaft was great.

I thought she was preggers with all the stuff she has been doing. My wife had to explain it to me and I thought oh man Pulo is gonna crucify her when he finds out.

Seriously...he is going to go insane on her. And we know how insane Pullo can be.

"sorry I killed your man and all. Will you marry me?"

The preview looks flat out amazing.

I also love that Pullo and Vorenus are based on real people (none of their adventures, just two badass warriors) mentioned by Caesar.

http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Commentaries_on_the_Gallic_War/Book_5#44

In that legion there were two very brave men, centurions, who were now approaching the first ranks, T. Pulfio, and L. Varenus. These used to have continual disputes between them which of them should be preferred, and every year used to contend for promotion with the utmost animosity. When the fight was going on most vigorously before the fortifications, Pulfio, one of them, says, "Why do you hesitate, Varenus? or what [better] opportunity of signalizing your valor do you seek? This very day shall decide our disputes." When he had uttered these words, he proceeds beyond the fortifications, and rushes on that part of the enemy which appeared the thickest. Nor does Varenus remain within the rampart, but respecting the high opinion of all, follows close after. Then, when an inconsiderable space intervened, Pulfio throws his javelin at the enemy, and pierces one of the multitude who was running up, and while the latter was wounded and slain, the enemy cover him with their shields, and all throw their weapons at the other and afford him no opportunity of retreating. The shield of Pulfio is pierced and a javelin is fastened in his belt. This circumstance turns aside his scabbard and obstructs his right hand when attempting to draw his sword: the enemy crowd around him when [thus] embarrassed. His rival runs up to him and succors him in this emergency. Immediately the whole host turn from Pulfio to him, supposing the other to be pierced through by the javelin. Varenus rushes on briskly with his sword and carries on the combat hand to hand, and having slain one man, for a short time drove back the rest: while he urges on too eagerly, slipping into a hollow, he fell. To him, in his turn, when surrounded, Pulfio brings relief; and both having slain a great number, retreat into the fortifications amid the highest applause. Fortune so dealt with both in this rivalry and conflict, that the one competitor was a succor and a safeguard to the other, nor could it be determined which of the two appeared worthy of being preferred to the other.
