That's why we drafted Roberts last year. Insurance for Breaston leaving.

Problem is that After Fitz we have very little at WR.

I'm fine with Roberts filling the role Breaston had as a #3. I still think we need a true #2 slot WR. Too bad that Lance Moore just agreed to return to NO.

Our #3 receiving target is Housler. Roberts, Doucet, and Williams will fight it out for the #2 job.

Why would Fitz want to stay on this team after his deal is up?

if Kolb's not GREAT, he won't. He'll be off like a prom dress and if that happens... and we have systematically dismantled a team that went to the playoffs in back to back years... I'll go with him. By 2012, LA will have a football team, i'll buy season tickets for it and i'll rid myself of at least ONE of the franchises I love who obviously doesn't give a **** about it's fans.

that Kolb trade is going to decide the fate of the Cardinals for a decade, if not more.

The human snail will find a way to #@*% it up!!! He's already the guy who let him have a no franchise clause in his last contract, which still blows my mind!!! :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

It's going to be pretty funny when Kolb signs a five- or six-year contract extension and Fitz only opts in for four more years. :bang:

DRC, now Breaston,,,,,, How long did it take us to build a superbowl team?

And now it's taken 1 year and 2 days of another offseason and its almost completely gutted.

I hate being negative about the damn Cardinals, I'm just gonna step away for a while.

If Cards do bring in Kolb, Fitz extends before game one of season. Thats right I am calling it. See if I can call my shot when everyone was doom and gloom three years in a row, Wilson, Dockett, now Fitz?

that would be a miracle in of itself K9. I'm skeptical Fitz does ANYTHING until he sees we're an actual winner. Having an entire off-season where you simply add a QB while likely losing your #1 CB, your #2 WR, your best OL (Deuce) while still having glaring holes everywhere else wouldn't make me hurry to sign on the dotted line if I'm Fitz.

Kudos to the NY Jets for re-signing their WR S.Holmes as they want to remain a force in the playoffs. The Cardinals let Breaston walk and have no replacement at the #2 WR position opposite of Fitzgerald. Wow, guess Larry will also be leaving AZ after this season. Its just not fair to him.

i still can't believe we extended Wilson at age 30 and not Dansby back when he was 26.

Bad Knees trump good reciever

bad knees? he an in issue in ONE season... where he came back early because the team needed to because they had no one who could play the position... and while playing on a bum knee with the worst QBs ever, he still put up 750 yards in 13 games.

Please only use thread titles that actually relate to what is happening.

No one is reporting he has "agreed to terms"

If Fitz doesn't re-sign after we sell the future for his handpicked QB and allow him to bring his own position coach to camp (after promoting his former position coach to offensive coordinator), then he's not staying here, anyway. We designed and offense and gave up on winning last year because we decided that we'd just keep Fitz happy and throw him the ball over and over and over again.

I'm pretty sure that Fitz wants to stay here, but if letting him play general manager and $12 million a year aren't going to make him stay, what else can you give him?

Breaston had an injury on the same knee (I think) in 2009: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/10/23/week-seven-2009-friday-injury-report/

He missed at least one game for it, and I think he was taken off punt return duties (with Antrel Rolle filling in, maybe?) two years ago. Worries about the lingering effects of the knee injury were a reason that taking him off PR was a big deal last offseason.

I would suggest that everyone actually get confirmations beyond rumors and speculation before freaking out.

In all seriousness, I was about to post the same comment! I'm calling this with you and it's not just because you're name is Joe!
Kolb joins the team and Fitz is locked up! ;)

Expect it, espeically with Twitter where media would rather be first then right.

Not to mention they extended Wiz too. No one wants to hear that though Joe. They just want a reason to complain. Its Same Old Fans.....not necessailry Same Old Cardinals.

I like Breaston but hes easily replaced, especially with his bad knees. I am assuming we sign someone to come in for that #2 position.

your right... pocketing 30 million dollars and giving us one of the most unwatchable seasons in nfl history gave us nothing to complain about.

then, letting another key member of the Super Bowl fly the coop is nothing to complain about either.

kind of a mighty large assumption considering this team almost never replaces it's key FA with another FA... unless he's washed up and completely over the hill... or he's an undrafted FA... or he's a FA who most believe is just camp fodder (Lennon).

Seriously, the only time i remember this team actually replacing a key loss was Rhodes. That worked out well... you'd think they learn from it, but I have zero confidence that will be the case.

Even I will agree with that. No problem with fans being darker then normal after that.
