seriously.

they'll get james jones... who's never put up stats like Breaston and has a serious case of the drops at the worst time imagineable and call it a rousing success... until he gets on the field and becomes Skillet Hands part deux.

the grass ain't always greener folks.
James Jones. 2010: 50 catches 679 yards. 5 tds. pretty much stats like Breaston. Ya, he drops a lot. But so does Breaston.

Jones had 50 catches (13.6av.) and 5 tds last season as a number 3/4 w/o. Drops a few, but makes tough catches over the middle, and has very good speed. I'd be more than happy if they pick him up.

right... so in 3 fewer games, he caught less yards and had about as many drops... not to mention they were HUGE drops. Great. And forgive me, but has Jones ever produced a 1000 yard season like breaston? No? oh.

Breaston had a year of drops where he was playing on one leg but you KNEW he could be counted on to make big plays in big games, like his huge punt return in the Super Bowl, Touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter v. GB of the playoff game... his game-svaing play on DEFENSE against the Rams last year, his punt return v. the Steelers back in 2007, etc, etc.

How many games did Jones start? 3? I am positive Jones can catch more that 44 next season and score more than 1 td. That is the Breaston is would replace, not the Breaston who was #3 receiver for Warner, Q, Fitz, 2-3 years ago.

Well look at who the Breaston last year had throwing to him. Jones was in a similar situation as the #3 Breaston with Q and Fitz last year and didn't duplicate Breaston's success.

Honestly I'm more disappointed with the Cards inability to retain talent they develop than I am about losing Breaston specifically.

The Cardinals are never going to retain every FA, sign every big name guy, hit on every draft pick, and be everything to everyone. NO team does that.

The Cards almost never retain any of their bigger name Free Agents. There isn't a single player on the team other than Fitz who was re signed as an UFA to a long term deal is there?

They also did Warner but I can't think of anyone else in years. If the Cards don't extend them they're gone. I don't know if this is true of most other teams.

So its not about Breaston its just how the Cardinals operate.

Well we have lost Breaston and haven't signed anyone to replace him yet. I will remain discouraged until I see who we sign. Really liked SB.
