Not sure what to think. So Skelton sucks and we bench him because Lindley may suck also but we haven't seen absolute proof of this yet.
Oh this is just great.
Sounds like... John Skelton!Lindley has a arm that can make the NFL throws. Max Hall had a itty bitty highschool arm but Lindley suffers from...wait for it...had some accuracy problems when in college if you look at his percentages. Hopefully it was a byproduct of a lack of talent around him.
Skelton just had a good game against Greenbay so all this bull about him being a bad QB is bull. Whiz wanted to show that he would bench anyone including the QB. What he did is lose the game for us by putting in Lindley and now he is going to start him. We will lose out the rest of the year because of this. If whiz wanted to lose he should have done it last yeae when we could have drafted Luck or Griffin.
When he runs for his life, he will get blamed for it. If he tries to make something happen, he will get blamed for it. When he stares down the only quick route, he will get blamed for it. Whiz's way out vs the Rams..."rookie QB made some mistakes and we didn't make plays as a team". Same old song and dance, it's really sad this D has no chance at a full on blow out. Lindley might not make it the whole game, I give him a 50/50 chance between injury or Whiz yanking that choke chain again. Choke chains suck.Ryan Lindley is just another lamb to the slaughter behind the worst O-line in the NFL. Poor kid.
Sounds like... John Skelton!
As Jaworski stated on Burns and Gambo... the benching of Skelton had less to do with what actually took place on the field in the Falcon game, and much more to do with the broader perspective Whiz has gained since mini-camp, training camp and practices... Jaws is convinced that Skelton just wasn't doing enough to buy him the slack needed to overcome his craptastic play in the Falcon game.
Jaws also said that since the Cards are done, they NEED to find out what they have in Lindley - I agree!

lol... Skelton Haters. If you think I'm one of those, you haven't been around here much considering I was dubbed a Kolb hater earlier in the season when I said Skelton, through no real great shakes of his own, should be the starter.
The idea that ANY Cardinals fan likes Kolb or Skelton at this point is high comedy to me, but that's beside the point.
just announced
Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt says rookie Ryan Lindley will start at quarterback for the team Sunday against St. Louis.
Lets be honest here
Statistically, the odds of a QB taken after round 1 or later (including UDFAs) turning into a solid NFL starter are really, really low
Usually guys like that get a couple seasons learning the ropes before starting, not 11 weeks
The odds of Lindley playing well this week are really low.
This feels like Whis holding a 2 and a 6 and hoping to draw three cards to an inside straight. He's got nothing, so what the heck.
Is that counting undrafted rookie QBs too?Has any other NFL coach started as many late round rookies at QB as Whiz? His number right now stands at 3.
I think you summarized it quite nicely. It's like in baseball where a pitcher is getting hammered and there is nothing to lose by going to the bench.
Well, I have never seen a pitcher taken out when leading a game to bring in a rookie who has never thrown a pitch. Not sure your analogy works.
I have certainly seen a young pitcher, up to the 'Bigs' for the first time, coming in relief of a starter with a lead.
I predicted at the start of the season that Lindley would be the starter by week 8. I was wrong.
A 10 run lead or a late September meaningless game possibly. A QB and a pitcher not a good analogy at all in my opinion.
Nope. Saw it this summer, a left hander from Double A brought up by the Blue Jays... when they were still in contention. But, agree the analogy is weak.
