Hey Cardiac! You knew this post was coming. :p

Ryan Williams joins the illustrious list of RBs taken in the second round by the Cardinals. Since 1960 not one of their 2nd round RBs has ever panned out for the Cards. NONE!

Williams
Arrington
McElroy
Levy
Anthony Thompson
Tony Jeffery
Theotis Brown
George Franklin
Jim Germany*

* Jim Germany never played in the NFL instead going to the CFL where he became a star RB playing on 5 Grey Cup Championship teams.
Two things a Cards coach & GM should know when he signs on the dotted line:
1) never assign #75 to a drafted LT
2) and never draft any RB no matter how good you think he is in the 2nd round

When you think about that list, that's just crazy insane how many times it's happened. Wow

:bang::bang::bang:

I feel sorry for him but we knew it was coming.
Another high draft pick wasted!
That year we could/should have taken ILB Bruce Carter instead of Williams & OLB Justin Houston in Round 3 instead of Housler.

Not a big shocker as I am sure the Cards will sign a couple more vet free agents and they have UDFA to suck up carries in training camp. No reason to pay a guy who can't stay on the field, for whatever reason it is.

I also agree Housler is going to need to show something soon. He will probably make it through this season, but come next season he will be gone if he hasn't flashed some sort of skills.

I kept thinking this guy was going to become a stud for us. Very disappointing.

This baffles me even more now. During the draft, I was hoping they would pick up a RB at some point to compete for shared duty or back-up role. I figured they didn't because they thought Williams was going to be a factor. Now what? Who is our RB depth other than Ellington, Dwyer and Taylor? Why make this move now?

His kneecap got shoved up into his thigh and when he got back on the field he wrecked his shoulder. I think he did indeed put himself on the line for the Cards. Totally unfair to this young man to claim that he did nothing but take up space. He gets to live with the damage for the rest of his life---and don't even think the amount of money he got paid will pay for his future physical problems.

Best of luck to Mr. Williams. Success if you try to continue your football career.

Now I wish we would have drafted Kadeem with one of those 3rd rounds or traded up a couple spots in the 4th. I am convinced he is going make a lot of teams look stupid.

I like Dwyer but this might be a little too much confidence in him. Maybe they like Bauman? Timing is kind of weird but could see them signing Winston soon. Any FA RBs out there?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. He chose the profession and knew the consequences that came with it. He is not a victim in all of this. That being said, I agree that he probably did everything he could to try and make an impact on this team. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. I don't fault guys whose bodies just can't handle the beating that professional football deals out, but it is part of the game.

I think this board had a bit too much confidence in Ryan Williams at the end. Eventually, you just don't get any more chances. Ryan Williams was given more opportunities than most guys and failed to do anything with them. Maybe he gets another one somewhere else, maybe not, but his time hear was a failure.

Brian Leonard, Bernard Scott, Anthony Allen. Most of the RBs available are #3 or #4 RBs.

Maybe they plan on having Mendenhall come out of retirement if Ellington gets hurt. Oh and the Howler is still a Free Agent. :)

Let's not put words in my post that are not there. Where did I claim that he was a victim?

He doesn't deserve to be bashed as he limps out the door after suffering two severe injuries.

Yep it sucks he didn't work out. Hard to project a guy's mindset after a catastrophic injury at 20 years old.

I won't feel too bad since he made about a million bucks per game played.

Marion Grice would have been an interesting pick in the 6th round because he can play running back plus he is an excellent receiver. ASU was not the same team after he went down to injury.

I'm a bit concerned about the Cardinals depth at RB.
