I agree with Eric Winston's comments when he was playing with the Chiefs:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--f...ring-when-chiefs-qb-matt-cassel-got-hurt.html

I never said anything about responsibility in regards to RW. I never said anything about pity for RW.

It is wrong to jeer an injured player who is now out of a job. If you disagree with that, keep posting nonsense trying to put words into my statements that are not there.

People sure didn't have a problem doing that when Wells was cut.

With Wells, who actually fought through injuries to play and produced for the Cards, it was good riddance, don't let the door hit you, what a bum amongst other things.

Yup with all of this.

Man, that 2011 draft class looks pretty terrible after Peterson. Williams gone and never did anything. housler hasn't developed into a core player and looks to be gone next offseason, Acho has regressed since a fine rookie year, and Sturdivant, the fullback, etc. are long gone.

But don't worry, because the 2012 draft class is going to look even worse. Michael Floyd might be the only player from that class who develops into a starter. Ugh.

But we received B draft grades on those classes...what happened?

Meh, this happens when you turnover coaching staffs and personnel schemes. Long story short, until we find a franchise QB, we will have less room for error in the draft. That makes things difficult because the draft can be a crapshoot. My hope comes from the fact that Arians seems to have a clear idea of what he wants and Keim seems to be willing to give it to him. That formula normally works in the long run.

Here's an odd draft stat for you. The Cards had 4 players start on Defense for them last season that came from the 2009 draft. But only one was drafted by Arizona.

And the repercussions from the stellar drafts of the Whisenhunt/Graves era continues.

You also turn over coaching staffs when this happens.

I thought it was a strange pick at the time, another RB bites the dust.

Hm. So is your operating theory that for other teams in the NFL, the head coach doesn't have a clear idea of what he wants and/or the GM is unwilling to give it to him?

I have a hard time believing that to be the case.

As for the rest, I guess you could say that the FB was a turnover issue, but the rest were guys who just didn't turn out from jump street. We'll find out pretty soon whether that's a scouting issue. Jamel Fleming being a blown pick was tough.

And the repercussions from the stellar drafts of the Whisenhunt/Graves era continues.

IIRC, there was a third strong voice in the room, particularly when it comes to drafted players and college personnel. I think that was the voice that promised Ryan Williams that if he were available the Cards would draft him.

22 of the 42 players drafted during CKW's time as HC are still in the NFL.* 13 with Arizona.

Non Cardinals: Branch, DRC, Schofield, Roberts, Toler, David Carter, Jamell Fleming, Kelemete, Sherman.

*According to team rosters as listed on nfl.com

When did we agree on the start of the avatar time Mulli? Was it the first month of the season?

Poor RW...nobody supported you.

I just luv how he fires shots at everyone that he didn't get a fair shot, cry me a river. He didn't feel ready, but they wanted you on the field saying MRI were fine, then you wonder why you were never activated...can't have it both ways you man!

Oh well, RB #27 gone after another 2nd round disaster :D Good luck brotha

I suspect his comments about being filthy related to how good he was on Madden or in walkthroughs.

Love how he thought all was well when he scored a preseason touchdown.

+1

None of us will know the truth as to why RW was a healthy inactive all last season. We have RW's version but will probably never hear the Cards mgmt/coaching staff rationale. I know plenty on this forum were puzzled as to why he was on the team but was never active.

It does sound like a lot of excuses but I really would like to hear an explanation from the team. Even though he wasn't a 1st round pick, it seem like he should have gotten a little more playing time to prove his talent. I remember being confused as well during those two weeks last season why he would not be active with the injuries we had. Seemed a little fishy from the coaching staff.

We kept him around until he healed up, and then we let him go right after the Draft, which is when the last second shopping begins. His time here was mysterious to say the least, but he doesn't have it bad. It was a bad business decision by the Cards, should have cut ties with him long ago if they were just going to wait till he healed up and then bounce him. Oh well.

I think it was fairly obvious when he sat all of last season, even when we had injuries to RB's that we didn't think he was a good enough fit. Made of glass, may get another shot but when you spend 3 seasons in the NFL, with 2 on IR and 1 riding the pine, other teams may bring you in for camp fodder but unless you show something brilliant, you may end up on the streets again. Hope he saved some of that rookie contract money.

Nice article.

Cannot understand why we would have cut a guy with an attitude like that. :sarcasm:

I hope the kid succeeds.

I did.

After reading that ?

I hope someone else succeeds where he left the opportunity open.

He thinks things are hard now, wait until he is no longer paid to watch football games from the sideline.
