Bowen isn't the only guy that the NBA brings in or calls.

You guys remember when Caparkaba when down due to Fortson. Broken wrist right?

Other guys will get calls like Reggie Evans. With Bruce the complaint is that the offensive player can't get his "space" and that he is being "disrespected". Do you guys think that your team is "entitled" to an easier basket or easier shot just because they play a style that garners good ratings?

You only hear about it because your team is playing his team. Or the guys that he covers are ALL-STAR players who feel that they need to whine about it to the media. Kobe Bryant just calls him the player that defends him best.

Right now the only guys who exemplify this mental fortitude is Steve Nash and Raja Bell. If the Suns go on to lose this series, it won't be because of these 2 players effort or preparation.

You just compared Bowen to Fortson? Geez. Your 7 time, or whatever all time nba defender, to one of the biggest thugs to ever play in the NBA. Nice one.

You're calling him dirty right? Is he dirty like Fortson? See, what we have here are 2 players. One guy is an ALL-NBA defender...the other is a guy who has put people on the IL.

So which is it...is he that dirty or are you just mad that one guy has put a monkey-wrench in your team's free-wheeling style of play?

This is just lame example and not worth responding to.

Hmm. I don't think this is the general perception of everyone. I think the TNT guys said it last night. Others don't define his "defense" just "invading the space"... he invades various parts of their body as well.

The difference is Bowen DOES play good defense... he just is dirty at the same time. Why can't these co-exist?

so now we are arguing degrees and the severity of dirty play? Dirty is Dirty. No, Bowen didn't push a guy with all his force as the guy was going up for a dunk sending him onto the floor. Bowen is a lot smarter than Fortson, was that your point?

The point is that to be an ALL-NBA Defender means that you're not going to let the offensive player bump you, elbow you, push you, use moving picks to stop you from challenging your man and his shots.

Playing hard and challenging everything ain't dirty. We're not talking malicious intent here. We're talking about playing a contact sport. Many here say, the style ain't pretty. Well, winning cures all ills and winning is gloriously pretty. If you guys had Pop as your coach, and he won you a title playing the same way except this time he uses Amare as his post and Bell as his defender, playing the way that Bowen plays, you would support the effort.

It's one of those, since he ain't our defender...then he's dirty when in actuality, him and Raja...play the same way. It's been that way since yearly, they hang out in Miami together to train and work defensive tactics.

Not talking malicious? Contact sport? What kind of contact?

I don't recall Raja doing anything like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAakQjpFibg

or countless other videos that can be pulled off of youtube. Yes I know you will bring up the whole Raja Kobe thing as it is all the Spurs fans have to go on.

Your logic is horrible TMIB as well as what we have already discovered in with your eyesight.

Man...you guys are worse than ol' 3peat Lakerfans. It's like a sense of entitlement. It's like boxing ya know? To be the champ, you have to knock-out the champ. Jab and run ain't the way to do it. You have to go in for the knock-out in the ring. Unfortunately, the best haymakers your team has thrown has been in the media. I give credit to your team for winning game 2 and for a good start in game 3. Game 4 could ultimately decide if your team is ready to throw combinations or continue to jab and run.

"It's a contact sport," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. "Playoffs are playoffs. End of story."

I am now implementing the IGNORE function on here for the first time. Congrats Men In Black.

You love changing subjects when getting called out on your horrible insight and comparisons you make rather than defending or justify your statements. Instead you just feel its necessary to come up a few posts later trying to "kick", no pun intended, some basketball or sports knowledge as if you invented the freaking game.

that is funny
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball says that Disruptive physical contact (foul) is not permitted and there are restrictions on how the ball can be handled (violations).

also the offical nba rule book doesnt say that basketball is a contact sport. as a matter of fact it says that it isnt a contact sport. that is why there are fouls because a player makes contact. and that is the whole problem here. there is one rule set for the suns and most of the other teams in the nba another one for the spurs. if the games were called anywhere close to what they should be then we wouldnt be talking about it.

i gotta say, the whole "dirty" thing and frustration with the officials from the Suns and our fans is EXACTLY what I was worried about when Amare opened his mouth. Youjust have to play the game - I can't remember ONE team which ever bitched about the officials or dirty play that ever actually one a title. Jordan never talked about the Pistons - he just kept battling until they were better. The Spurs never talked about the Lakers. They just kept battling until they were better.

but you know what I do remember? I remember Mavs fans and players and coaches last year. I remember those pathetic Kings fans/players against the Lakers. I remember George Karl whining when he played the Barkley team in 1993 and on and on. Whiners don't win. You play against the champs and you're not going to win by TKO - you have to KNOCK THEM OUT. And that's the only way you're going to win -you have to overcome EVERYTHING - the other team, officiating, possible injuries - whatever it is - nothing's handed to you. I was irate with the officials on Satty night, but the bottom line is Amare picked up some VERY stupid fouls once he already got some bogus ones and that's on him. Nash was horrendous in the first three quarters and Barbs didn't even show up. We lost because we played like CRAP and the Spurs played very well.

So what now? Are we going to go out like those Kings or Mavs teams? Or can we put everything behind us and just go out there and kick some f'n ass? We'll find out in 7 hours.

Look...point out the statements :)

I'll go over each and every one. Just quote and then I'll respond.

Justification is called victory. I didn't invent the game and I get the stance I take is unpopular but that doesn't change the game and how it's played. Those articles back up my stance. So go find an article and cite something else than a youtube video to back up yours.

Even Raja and Steve are telling their teammates, fans, and the media about how it seems that some players aren't giving the kind of effort defensively as they are offensively. When 2 of your best players are saying that, that is more ammunition than anything else I've got.

IGNORE ME and it seems as if you've given up discussion. It will seem as if you too has relented to pressure.

Uh, the Spurs have won three titles, and they bitch about the officials constantly. I have no idea where you're coming from.

not in the press they don't.

do whatever you want during the games, but leave what happened on the court and move on. That's where I'm coming from.

Tell that to Jackson and Riley. Riley, in particular, never misses an opportunity to complain to the media about how unjustly O'Neal is officiated. Actually that was one of Jackson's favorite refrains as well.

I think the true phenomenon is, no one remembers when the complainers win, because winning justifies everything.

that could be. Note, I never talked about Jackson or Riley though. The difference is those guys actually know how to nudge the refs without looking like a freaking two year old throwing a coniption fit like DA does.

Well, okay, sure. But on the other hand, no new-ish coach has won a title in more than twenty years. Since the Jordan era, it's been Jackson, Tomjanovich, Popovich, Brown, and Riley. So what you're really saying is, you need a veteran "name" coach in order to get adequate respect from the referees in the playoffs. And that could be true.

Only Phil Jackson did, he still does in his zen-like way. When he coached Jordan, his star player then rallied his team and fought back by winning basketball games.

Riley has openly said that some refs have a vendetta against him though he has backed off that stance.

Other than the hand gesture and the wide eyes and the "What did I do?" response, when it gets down to it, Pop is the one that'll ask for interpretation. Sometimes he doesn't like what he hears and he gets T'd up for it but most of the time, he can say his piece and move on.

that could be. the weird thing though is that the thing I liked the most about DA for the last two years has been his on court demeanor. He seemed to be one of those kill you with kindness guys and I think the pressure of this series has really gotten to him. I mean, this really is the first year he's had MAJOR pressure and I just don't like the way he's handled it so far. Think about it - two years ago, we were a complete and utter shock, and even though we got to the WCF, no one really gave us a shot. Last year, without Amare? Negative pressure - whatever we got was gravy. But this year, everyone's been relatively healthy, we're at full strength now, have homecourt and seemingly should be evenly matched with the Spurs and the pressure is ratcheted up BIG TIME and I think it's wearing on DA. He needs to compose himself out there IMO because his flying off the handle sends a message to our players that they can also and we need to be a machine to beat this team.

but DA is still relatively young in coaching terms and this could be all part of a learning curve for him.

i can't wait to see how we come out tonight.
