Sarver! Now you're just toying with us!
That's a virtual name-drop for Artest, a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
edit: Then again, 11 years in more than just "a few."
Am i the only one who would rather have Pietrus then Artest?
Same type of defender, more athletic, no need to worry about upsetting lockerroom or offensive chemistry, and he would cost less then Artest in trades and money.
The description sounds like Pietrus to me. He's made it clear he wants out.

Pietrus is a lesser but more athletic version of bruce bowen, with more slashing and less dirty tricks
Really? Defense and Pietrus? Reeeeaaally?

Count me among those who think trading the Atlanta pick is dumb even if it is between 15-20. There will be no way to add anything to this squad (no way Sarver allows the use of the MLE with his current payroll) until the summer of 2010 and even if Bob does come out of pocket only vets will be available. Every team needs fresh blood from the draft here and there even if it is just role players.
I meant actual NBA role players, not Sean Marks or Pat Burke.just sign someone from the D league
I never liked Artest but I will be jumping with joy if it happens all the way to my home from work... that is 25 miles...I just read on IGN that the guy who broke the Suns getting Shaq trade has just said the Suns are looking at using the Atl pick and the TE to pick up Ron Artest...

This is also why he's a defensive downgrade over Bowen and Artest.
Nice. Not to mention that as a European player, Pietrus probably has some good fundamentals and a great work ethic.
On the other hand, Artest can lay out the average Pistons fan in just one punch. So that's something...
So much for the Artest excitement that lasted just 5 min...Paul Coro

The Suns are in trade talks this evening with a few teams, trying to acquire a wing player in a deal for a second-round pick before Thursday's trade deadline.
Phoenix could know by the end of the night whether they can work out a deal for a player like the Los Angeles Clippers' Quinton Ross, Denver's Yakhouba Diawara or Seattle's Mickael Gelabale. Golden State's Mickael Pietrus is also an outside possibility but he would come at a costlier price tag with a salary this season of about $3.5 million, which would be prorated for the season's remainder but would also add to the Suns' luxury tax hit.
Phoenix is seeking a wing player who is a versatile, strong defender and Ross fits that bill at a great price. Ross' salary is slightly more than $800,000 but offers defense, rebounding and ability to play in transition in a 6-foot-6, 193-pound frame. He has been a part-time starter over the past four seasons for the Clippers.
Diawara, a 25-year-old Frenchman, makes less than $700,000 and also has started some over the past two seasons for Denver, bringing strength in a 6-foot-7, 225-pound frame.
Gelabale, 6-feet-7 and 215 pounds, was a player Phoenix has liked since before he entered the league but has spent recent time in the D-League after playing in 70 games as a Seattle rookie in 2006-07. The athletic 24-year-old, who is also French, has a salary of about $800,000 this season.
