Here's an idea I didn't take into consideration, and perhaps it's a little far-fetched...

I know their relationship is rumored to be not great (probably just fallout from the BC fiasco), but what about making D'Antoni a Coach/GM? It's not like he's doing a lot of work calling plays on the bench, he's laid back, and has a great personality. Worked for Don Nelson and is working for Pat Riley right now.

I'm not saying it's a great idea, I'm just wondering if it is a POSSIBLE idea.

Marc Stein mentioned in this morning's chat something about the idea of D'Antoni and Griffin basically taking over the whole thing.

Caro's piece made a similar point:

Sarver said he will not name an interim general manager. Coach Mike D'Antoni and Assistant General Manager David Griffin would be the point men for outside contacts. Sarver has no timetable for a GM replacement but said he would look inside the organization. Griffin may be a candidate.

ESPN's Cold Pizza this morning is saying that another possible GM replacement is Bob Lenier, who lives in Scottsdale.

I was thinking the exact same thing actually.

Are you referring to Bob Lanier, one time center in the league? He also worked as a GM for one of the EC teams, if I recall correctly.

Yeah, sorry, didn't get the spelling of his last name correct.

IIRC, he is the head of the NBA's Read To Achieve program.

Okay, so it sounds like no one else is going to fall in line with my Mark West prediction. :p I guess that means I'll get all the glory when it's right, even though you've now convinced me that it won't happen.

Hey, it was just a stab in the dark.
