Hmm. I suppose McD sees something in this guy.

I can't imagine what. He's almost 25 years old and is a career 24% (!!) shooter. He looks for all the world like a big body who has no idea how to play basketball. How he could be the sticking point in a low-level trade, for either side, is utterly beyond me.

I have a theory on how we got the 1st round pick in the deal. McDonough demanded that they take Marshall if they wanted Scola, but the Pacers included a 1st round pick so Marshall would be excluded.

I suggested last night that we were trading Scola and Marshall for Green, Plumlee and a second round pick. I have to believe that Indiana decided they'd rather lose a 1st than gain a Marshall.

Love this trade.

Losing Scola means the Suns hopefully lose 3-5 more games he would've helped them win. He's an ideal fit for what the Pacers need. Plumlee and Green? Who cares. Maybe they pan out, maybe they don't. They're cheap and on moveable contracts.

The 1st round pick is the sweet thing here. Sure it won't be a high pick, but if its in the 15-25 range, which it likely should be, thats great. Indiana is a lock for the playoffs, lets pray Minny gets in too. McD is doing a great job acquiring assets, thats what the GM game is all about.

Wasn't he just drafted last year? You make it sound like he's an aging vet.

His "career" includes a whopping 14 games played and a whole 21 shot attempts, so that 24% number is fairly useless IMO.

Plumlee will likely never be more than a backup, but I watched him quite a bit in the Orlando summer league and think he has the ability to contribute. He's very athletic for his size and will get up and down the floor well, something that fits what our offense wants to do. He definitely looks like an NBA player more so than Oriakhi (who is getting WAY overhyped on here).

I like the trade.

Plumlee is a nice throw-in, he is not as good as Mason Plumlee obviously but he has size and is athletic.

he will backup Len or play some PF when we finally move on without Gortat

He gives us a decent option to throw in at center/power forward and develop while tanking harder later on.

Well he didn't do anything to earn more playing time, either in practice or by making good use of the limited minutes he got. He's only five months younger than Robin Lopez, and he's shown zilch so far in terms of actual NBA ability.

I'm not saying he's destined for failure, only that I can't understand why either the Suns or the Pacers would believe he has any value at this point.

Plus Plumlee is a center to run the floor. He is an athlete.

He will fit in much better with the Suns style of play then the Pacers halfcourt grind..

i expect him to develop into a solid role player on the bench.

What did you expect behind Hibbert and Mahinmi?

The Pacers had one of the best frontcourts in the NBA, of course a rookie would have a hard time walking in there for playing time.

And yeah like I said.. Plumlee is better suited for a fast paced team where he can outrun the other center and get some garbage points.

Totally agree. We got rid of a guy that was going to make it more difficult to get a top 3 pick and acquired another pick in one of the best and deepest drafts in recent memory.

McD continues to impress.

So, can we trade Butler now?

From Indiana's perspective they gave up last year's first round pick and next year's first round pick.

[/B] Still should have pushed for no lotto protection. I hate that.

You might as well have been asking for Paul George. No team is going to trade a 2014 pick at this point without lottery protection. Deal would not have been made if Phoenix insisted on no lottery protection.

For anyone that may not know a whole lot about Miles Plumlee. He is a very good athlete. A good player to compare him to as far as athleticism is concerned would be Cody Zeller. They both have nearly identical measurables, but it looks like Plumlee is the more athletic of the two.

Cody Zeller/Miles Plumlee
Height: 7'0.25"/6'11.75"
Standing Reach: 8'10"/8'9.5"
Max Vert: 37.5"/40.5"
Bench Reps: 17/15
Lane agility: 10.82/10.64
3/4 Court Sprint: 3.15/3.36

Not saying this means he is or will be as good as Cody Zeller, but the measurables are almost identical. Plumlee appears to be the better all around athlete while Zeller appears to be the faster of the two. Just thought it was interesting to see how he stacked up physically to a player that was so highly touted in this years draft. You always hear people say that you can't teach athleticism and it would appear that Miles has plenty of it.

Both of the Plumlee brothers are incredibly big and athletic. I know somebody earlier pointed it out, but it is truly amazing that this team always gets the lesser of any set of NBA brothers. At least that's been true since the Collins. I don't think it's easy to tell who is the lesser of the Morris twins, so we got both of them here.

By the way, as big as he is, Miles Plumlee's standing reach is just about the same as Markieff Morris who every one here thinks is undersized. It looks like the Plumlee's and the Zeller's have tyrannosaurus arms. Problem is that Plumlee doesn't have 1/10 the basketball skills of Cody Zeller. Who knows? Maybe the coaching staff can do something with him. He'll get some playing time. At the least he's $1,000,000 salary that can be used in a trade.

come on, 24% shooter? He's taken 21 shots in his one year, garbage minute NBA career. Maybe they saw his nearly 15 rebound/36 minute average! I mean if he can turn into a third or fourth big off the bench who doesn't totally suck I'll be happy. If not he goes after this season or maybe he's a piece to make salaries work in another trade.

I actually like what McDonough is doing here. I know it's only like a 25% shot at best to win the lottery, but I'm all for getting the highest percentage possible at this point. Oh, I don't know why I get my hopes up for that. I know this teams luck. Assuming there isn't some miracle/disaster we will have one of the worst two or three records in the league, and I just can't help but believe that's going to translate into the #4 pick.

How can his numbers mean anything? He has a total of 13 nba points in only 55 minutes total of NBA court time and that is spread in small bits over 14 games. He played for Duke. He has to have some skill level.

He does have one of the prettiest 360 dunks I have ever seen

Or maybe they saw Plumlee being good in summer league last year and this year...

Saw that Plumlee was stuck behind Hibbert, West, Hansborough and Mahinmi last season..

Know that we will deal Gortat eventually and need another center..

See that Plumlee can really run the floor and is pretty much the athletic type of center that would fit our team.

At least we got a ton more athletic this offseason...... Bledsoe, Goodwin, Green, Plumlee... throw in Shannon Brown and hope for some dunks while we tank our way for Wiggins or Exum.

Plumlee looks to be good for at least 50 ping pong balls.

At least this team is going to be entertaining. Watch this clip of Gerald Green on an allyoop windmill dunk while he was with the Nets. Freeze it at the 13 second mark.

The Suns should be fast and athletic. Even Plumlee shows these traits. The Suns have loaded up with young players and draft picks. I like.

Or because Indiana had the best front court and depth in the league last year and Plumlee couldn't find playing time cause he was stuck behind Hibbert and Mahimi...

"From the Red Hot Chilli Peppers"

"Oh..uh..ha...ha..."

I agree the Suns should be a fun team to watch with the team being groomed for the future.

I used to watch the Suns prepare and participate in summer league and then think this is the most pure form of basketball. Wins and losses didn't matter and a lot of players were not going to make the team.

I plan to sit back this coming season and watch a young team play their hearts out without calculating their success in terms of wins and losses, but how they play.

I know Plumlee has a ways to go to be a good rotation player in this league, but man did he play well in SL. I know SL isn't necessarily an accurate barometer of how good a player will become, but he looked great this year in SL. 10 PPG on 51% shooting, 9.5 RPG, 3 BPG, 1.3 SPG, 1.3 APG and he also only had 1.2 TOPG and 1.8 FPG. It's one thing to put up some good numbers the way that Keiff does in SL, but to put up good numbers while playing under control, taking good care of the ball and not committing a lot of fouls. Big men are known to take a while to develop so it is quite possible that he has some more improving to do. I have watched one game thus far and he really seemed to dominate his match-up including when he played against Steven Adams who is an athletic lottery pick this year.

Sweet. Give up a proven player for perhaps a little potential and probably getting worse in the short term... potentially increasing our lottery chances, and getting a 1st round pick.

Its a wonderful thing to be a fan of the game and learn to appreciate all the stages of the process.

Especially in Orlando. My goodness, where did they play those games? It looked like the local Y. It was smaller than most high school gyms.
