this excerpt from the article makes it sound like its pretty much a done deal:

"Barring any last-minute complications, Weatherspoon is expected to join the Arizona Cardinals once the free-agent signing period begins at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Multiple sources indicated the Cardinals are prepared to give the 27-year-old Weatherspoon a two-year contract expected to be worth between $3 to $4 million per year".

This nugget in the article is new though...

Multiple sources indicated the Cardinals are prepared to give the 27-year-old Weatherspoon a two-year contract expected to be worth between $3 to $4 million per year. It is unclear whether the Falcons are willing to give Weatherspoon a two-year deal, given his injury history. The team was close to a deal with Weatherspoon on Friday morning but talks obviously fell apart.

Worst case scenario, he marks time until Dwash gets on the field. Best case, we have Wash/Dansby all over again.

Yeah but "best case" says it all there. I'm not sure the odds are in our favor for anything close to a best case scenario.

Potentially, this is like signing Karlos Dansby in his prime.

I'm not sure of that.

He's a solid player when he's on the field & not injured, which has been quite often. If the report on years & low $$$ are true I like that for this guy.

All I can say is this:

Weatherspoon
Guard
center
Adrian Peterson

Best FA season we could ask for ever

Love this signing. Dude is a leader and hopefully has just gotten unlucky with injuries. Cause if he's healthy our defense just got a lot younger and faster!

would also like to add a pass rusher but that can wait to the draft if it has too.

If the draft goes like I think it will, we're either have to trade up in Rd 1 or 2 or draft a guy earlier than where he's projected to go unless we sign Cole, Orakpo or dole out the picks for Houston, which I'm all for!!!

Rand Getlin @Rand_Getlin
Source: LB Sean Weatherspoon will sign a one-year deal with the #AZCardinals.

Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo
One-year deal with the Cardinals for LB Sean Weatherspoon that @Rand_Getlin mentioned expected to be worth close to $4 million, source says.

now its a one year deal. low risk high reward signing. Though if he plays well we might lose him after one year.

It means he's eating. It's the new thing. These guys consider themselves to be hunting. So "let's go eat!"
