Guys,

I'm watching the Carolina vs. Steeler game and up until now, the Panthers are looking very competitive.

If we come out flat, we might be in trouble here.

I can't even remember the last time the Cards beat them in the regular season. Didn't Testaverde get off the couch and torch us once? Crap, I want to pound them.

Carolina has been a tough game for the Cardinals because the Big Red has been unable to stop the Carolina running attack. I posted in another thread the amazing # of rushing yards Carolina has put up against the CKW Cardinals.

Here is the list of players that did not play for Pitt:
Roethlisberger
McFadden
Mendenhall
Polamalu
Farrior
Pouncey
Miller
Ward
Smith
Harrison
Hampton
Taylor

More then half of their starters on O and D didn't even suit up, Yet Carolina's D got shredded in the ground game and had no pass rush to speak of, 1 sack and one pressure the whole game and the pressure came ironically from the guy they cut in Everette Brown.

They looked average against Pitts scrubs IMO.

Carolina always beats us in the regular season. They have our number.

The Cardinals have to score about 17 pts to cover the inveitable Steve Smith 80 yard TD, and the 100 yard game by the 3rd string fullback. Flippin' Nick Goings.

Happens every time.

Don't forget the Kurt Warner lazy screen pass to Julius Peppers for the pick 6. :bang:

It's a different Carolina team in many ways.

New Head Coach - Ron Rivera

New QB - Cam Newton

Vince Young/Michael Vick type QB

No Julius Pepper

When you play this kind of QB, you work under a different set of strategic-rules - possibly with a spy; possibly pinching in from the sides to keep Newton between the hash-marks; blitz the newbie early and often; hold outside contain (left & right) etc.

When you're a .500* football team, you cannot take any opponent for granted.

*(Last I looked, 0 & 0 = .500)

Carolina has had our number, but this is a must win for us. This should be the easiest team we play all year, plus it is Cam Newtons first game. We have been playing our best at home.

Yep

It's always the same pass as well

They thrown the quick wr screen to Steve Smith a time or two, then eventually pump that throw and go deep.

OT: From time to time I am asked to teach HS Mathematics...at least I can stay one step ahead of the posse....gotta' see if anyone has done any writing on your 0&0 thesis. If not maybe you should!! I do know why we have zeros though, even though they represent nothing.

In the regular season, Carolina has beaten the Cards 7 times in-a-row! Wow. I didn't know it was that bad.

We haven't beaten them in a non-playoff game since 2002.

It's time to break that streak like they did a similar one against Denver last year.

It aint happening this year, home opener and all. I think it's gonna be a blow out with Az dominating.

I believe the Cards will win but what I'm preparing myself for is the onslaught of Cam Newton coverage. No matter what happens this game will be viewed by all media and casual fans as Newtons first game and therefore the only reason to pay any attention.

Even if the Cards rout them, there will only be a handful of Cardinal highlights as opposed to hours of Cam coverage. God help us if Carolina actually wins.

How would you represent nothing if you didn't have zero's?;)

This game started as a 4 point favorite at the start of preseason. To climb 3 points means all of the money is going to Az's side and Vegas can't get it up high enough (3 point upswing with us losing two players for the season is a ton).

All of this despite that streak.

I will go with the professionals and say the Cards win convincingly.

Although easier said than done, Id hope they would take Every team as seriously as the next. These are all NFL teams, all professional athletes regardless of their record. Besides, drives me nuts when I see a guy making 6 million dollars a year take a game off. Thats 1/16th of your entire work load for the year, ridiculous.

It is nice that our CBs will get some pro experience but not have to be against a prolific QB quite yet. But I just really, REALLY dont want to be that first win on Cam Newtons belt. How awful would that be. Entire week of sports talk of how good he looked vs the Cardinals. Theres alot riding on this game. If Kolb comes out and doesnt perform to an almost stellar degree, everyone is going to come out with the "Bad trade" talk. He just needs to come out and play like he did in preseason. say 2 TDs, no Ints. Maybe a couple TDs for Beanie. I have faith we will be able to stop the Carolina run. we have gotten majorly torched by them in the past, but I think with the addition of Dan Williams (with Carter in relief rotation), not to mention Porter wont be out there for every play. Thats the biggest thing. We have quite a few old fellas on this team, namely in LBs. We got guys who can come in for a few series to give Paris and Porter a rest. OBS is finally going to be putting some work in. D Wash is ready to step up. I still want to see Stewart Bradley as a starter, I think that dudes got real talent. I think we still may get beat a few times on the run, but not nearly as much as we used to. My main concern is with the secondary. I think PP will be fine. Get beat once or twice, but Ive always thought the best way to learn is to do it. Whizs "never play rookies" always frustrated me. Very interested in seeing if AJ Jefferson can step up and make a name for himself. Hes basically like the guy from Jerry Mcguire (Cuba), got this 1 opportunity to make that big money if he plays like he deserves it.

Gonna be great. :)

WOW! First positive post in a month Debbie Downer. I was almost certain you were going to say the Cards lose by two scores.

All kidding aside it's good to see!

Debbie Downer. GOOD ONE!
