I can't even remember the last time the Cards beat them in the regular season. Didn't Testaverde get off the couch and torch us once? Crap, I want to pound them.
Yes, that was the game that, Lienart was knocked out for his final time and Warner effed up his elbow; Tim Rattay may have had a hand in the game as well... And Testaverde did get off his couch and torch the team

All I know is, Cam Newton is NOT an NFL ready QB. His accuracy is beyond dismal, and the only good aspect of his game is the ability to run, which can be easily contained. He's going to be so overwhelmed when he goes against a complex NFL defense, he won't even know what to do. Panthers will be doing a lot of PA roll outs, and a lot of screens to make it easy for Cam. If he gets over 200 yards passing, I will consider that a complete fail for the cards defense. Stop the running game = easy win

I am a Newton fan, but I fully agree with this.....with no off season the Panthers are making a huge mistake starting Cam in my opinion....I would have signed Joe scrub to start and let Newton learn from the bench.....had there been a whole camp, then fine, take the lumps as ya go...but not this season.
They could very well ruin the kid with this....like I said, I am a fan, so I think he will survive the emotional damage this season will do to him...but it is a huge risk for Carolina. The kids psyche could be completely shattered by week eight.

Critical in a Cards v Panthers game. Those fools beat our bad azz 2009 team, scoring 34 points with only 85 yards passing.

That was in 2007. All true except for the Leinart part. He didn't play in that game.

Warner got hurt after throwing just two passes and Rattay finished the game. Rattay threw 3 INTs and the Cards lost 25-10.

I've started to dissect their roster, and what leaps out is (a) very good RB's in Stuart and D Williams, (b) a very good offensive line, (c) strong at TE (Shockey and Olson) & then there's always Steve Smith deep - meaning our run & short pass defense better have their chin straps tightly buckled (& watch out for Smith).

I'm less impressed by the Panteras defensively (though Rivera's now their HC, the LB 's are pretty good and Gamble is pretty scary).

This will be a huge first game for new DC R Horton. A good DC should be able to stop a rookie QB. Cam Newton may end up a great player. But he is not now.

Even a craftsman is limited by his tools. I hope we have the weapons for Horton to utilize but until I see it in a real game, I'll remain concerned. It will take a game or two to erase the memory of last year's defense, for me anyway.
