i read some guy describe hillenbrand as the next gonzo. what do you think guys, and chance he really could turn his career around, gonzo-style? man, it sounds so plausible...it's damn tempting to believe it.

As for that 4 game series at the end against the Giants, that may be for all the marbles too. For some reason, I think the WC will come out of the East this year so this could be for the only playoff spot given to the West. Alot of baseball between now and then though.

I don't think Shea is the next Gonzo but it is clear BOB is ideal for the way he hits and the change has done him good. Gonzo's turnaround was so dramatic, I find it hard to believe it would be done again any time soon.

This is a big series yet again. The Dbacks must get 2 of 3 from the bottom feeders in the division. They face J Peavey tonight who is the only SD starter with a winning record...well starter that has a full slate of starts.

I like the line-up except Dellucci. Q has been hitting pretty well but hopefully Dellucci can keep it going.

Well we definately didnt play fundamentally in the top of the first, gave the Pads 5 outs. Does anyone know the rule on that interference play with Capuano and BUchanon? Capuano was inside the baseline when Buchanon hit him. I know when there is a play when the catcher makes a throw to first and the runner is inside the baseline he is called out. It just doesnt seem like it should be interference if Capuano is inside the baseline.

It could of been worse but one run only scored. Two rookie mistakes cost them.

Counsell with the long ball.

Three solo HRs for the DBacks tonight.

Counsell is back! Also, it looks like Capuano is settling down. I can't wait to see him pitch next year because he should be fully healed by then.

Another Save tonight for BK - good for him. This may be one of those trades that works great for both teams. And I don't mind Boston catching NY one bit.....

I wonder what this outting by Capuano means for Patterson?

I think the Backs are so hot right now - they could throw me on the mound and I could pitch a 5 hitter 3 run game! Thank God for this tunraround - I can't wait to see how scary this team is gonna be afte the All-Star break -I just hope the break doesn't kill their momentum.

Talk about being in a groove - 8 pitches to get 3 outs in the 7th.

Since he is leading off, I assume he is done for the night.

If so - great job!!

Doesn;t mean much since Patterson is already back in Tucson.
