What just happened to Dallas is proof anyone can get bounced from the playoffs.. Last thing we need is big headed egos since we had the 2nd best record..

Why, have you been trolling Mavs boards all season?

Trolls deserve to suffer. I sympathize with the Mavericks and their true fans, but none of them have been around these parts.

The Valley so low.
Well, I still feel a giant rush of supercilious self-aggrandisement. Miami, Dallas, Lakers--are all the overpuffed, ref-protected teams gone from the playoffs? Well, no, there's still SA. And Yao, but he can't get past GS.

Of course, for ref-protection to break down for Dallas, the opposite fix had to be in. Curse Dirk as soft all you want, he would not miss all those shots if they weren't muscling him flagrantly. My guess is that, in a fairly called game, all the GS starters would've fouled out.

So why was ref-protection withdrawn or at least muted? Maybe, just Maybe, the powers that be noticed that the fans like the Suns'-GS style. "The modern game", they were even calling it at the end of Dallas-GS.

If the refs call the next series more or less fairly, and ignore the SA whining--maybe even call a foul or two on the flopper--we win the championship.

It did seem like we had a lot of Mav trolls this season - or maybe just a few really persistent ones. Their silence is going to be deafening. :lmao:

Actually, I think it goes beyond their trolls. The Mav fans seemed to have this overwhelming sense of entitlement. If anything, Suns fans are overly paranoid and find dark clouds behind every silver lining, but I don't see the sneering overconfidence the Mav fans have shown in recent years.

The interesting part about it is that we have been contending the Suns matched up better with Dallas than San Antonio. This is a claim that would send the Mav fans over the edge, yet it looks like our claim was well founded.

After a season of Mav trolls, I think we can enjoy ourselves for at least one evening.

Could it happen to us? If you mean in the WCF, I'd say possibly, but probably not. The Warriors gave the Suns problems in a game where the Suns did not play well, but overall the Warrior's matchup advantages with the Mavs don't hold against the Suns.

In that game on Mar 29, the Warriors won by five points on a night when Stoudemire took only 8 shots, but hit 6 of them. The Suns shot 51.7% and hit 9 of 22 three pointers. Amare had 11 rebounds but Marion only 6.

As usual, Amare would be key in any matchup with the Warriors. If he could chop up the bigger yet athletic Lakers front line, it is interesting to think what he could do against Harrington and Beidrins.

If anything, Suns fans are overly paranoid and find dark clouds behind every silver lining.

I have earned every moment of paranoia, and I have known dark clouds longer than I have seen a blue sky. Every time I see Lucy pull the ball away from Charlie Brown, that's what it's like to have been a Suns fan for me since 1975. It's like watching Brian's Song for the 450th time and still expecting Brian Piccolo to get up from the bad and announce his cancer has cured. Argh. No one's sellin' me no bottle of optimism.

Any Mavs fan who came around here gloating this year deserves every painful moment getting over this loss. Welcome to the NBA. You're officially basketball fans now. Some day I'll tell you a story about Phil Ford and the KC Kings.

Tempered comments from now on, anyone?

You seriously think that what someone posts on a message board influences the outcome of an NBA playoff series?

No, we're glad that the Mavericks lost. Big difference.

Well if the Suns lose to the Spurs in the 2nd round, it won't go down as the greatest upset in NBA history coupled with the biggest choke in Finals history.

With the likelihood that the guy who is going to be named MVP a few days later is reason #1 they lost.

Wouldn't it be great to hear a player say that after a big playoff loss?

Intv: So Steve, what happened out there? You had an eight point lead against the Spurs with thirty seconds left and you wound up losing the game? Do you want to tell us what caused that?

Nash: Well, that freaking Elindholm guy at the arizona sports fans message board kind of gloated about the Mavs loss. I think he really jinxed us on that one. It's a shame, too, because I thought we really had a chance to win that game.
