Like Majerle?
Right or note, part of the consideration for Ring of Honor is present and future as well as career.

Thunder Dan -- announcer, now Assistant Coach. It's politics, like anywhere else.

That being said. I liked/like Dan Majerle for the exuberance he brought to the team, with individual skills which helped the Suns on the court.

Marion just got replaced by Beaubois who is a smooth version of Barbosa to start the 2nd half.

Is Marion the biggest playoff choker for an allstar player ever?

Unfortunately, he was unlucky enough to have to face the Spurs again. It's been well established that they are his bane, not the playoffs. Of course, he's not the type of guy who can step up his game, but I would not call him a choker.

I am really happy that he isn't here this time, as well as Shaq. Finally we might be able to have a good all around matchup vs matchup with the spurs.

This might be the first real time since the suspensions where we might have a chance if Lopez hasn't fallen too far out of shape or rythm.

If Lopez isn't there I just see Collins and Frye getting spanked by Duncan. In no way should we ever put Amare on Duncan, he could foul out in just one quarter guarding Duncan with the treatment Duncan gets from the refs.

If carlisle played Beaubois in game 1, mavs win this series. In 2006 avery made the adjustment of playing devin harris and that put the mavs over the hump against the spurs.

well said I couldn't agree more with you. rick was ok to stay with the same players that wern't getting it done...jason's and jj barea. yet he pulled the plug on caron butler for this in game 3? He put beaubois in the game in game 3 for a min but yanked him after he made a turnover and never put him back in. I just don't understand what the coach was doing in this game. Then in game 6 he iced his own guy for the fourth quarter to play two guys that were ice cold and not getting to the basket?

I think Marion was just a big dumb kid and a few evil people took advantage of him (exaggeration intended). He really was set up by all the media types who realized how easy it was to manipulate the guy. They'd tell him he was great and then ask him repeatedly how come he never got any respect. Shawn was just immature and uneducated enough to believe that crap and the next thing you know his insecurities were ruling his mind and his mouth.

I've been saying it and many others on here as well going back to his phoenix days when he was even making the all star game(which I thought was a fraud then).............

marion is not a star player....he is a hustle player. His play doesn't really show in the playoffs because he is not a halfcourt player unless a teammate can get him a wide open layup. He does play defense and rebound, but he has no halfcourt game because he can't penetrate or shoot a jumper. He has 2 moves one is a put back the other is a layup/floater that is 50/50 on a great day. One thing i will say is he got no love from the refs in this series. He got fouled a lot and didn't get to the line. However, it is what it is if he were a real star the refs would probably give him those calls. he is not a offensive force in the halfcourt...and wasn't really one with the suns either.

I'm sure he was just resting them for game 7.

Is it just me or did Jason Kidd look almost as bad as Steve Nash these past few weeks?

I don't know what was wrong with jkidd. He looked tired old and sick(in a bad way). He didn't talk to the media either so my guess is as good as yours. either way his play was terrible and he was not a problem for the spurs at all...never really has been. I remember when the mavs traded harris for kidd hearing parker say that he was happy to see that because jkidd was by far a better matchup for the spurs lol. however, kidd was good all year long, just not good in this series. he and terry were more of a liability because they took shots away from other guys and gave the mavs little to nothing at the defensive end. kidd was ok as a defender in this series, just not when he was checking george hill. then again no one did.

It is weird since that all sounds so D'antoni-esque. Mavs are just going to have to search for another coach yet again, the Suns lucked out with an awesome assistant coach turned coach.

Look at the Nuggets, coaching is damn near everything when you are at the playoff to championship level. Mavs will be good if they can get rid of Dampier and get a good coach. No one can blame them for trying out Carlisle it just turns out he is not that good of a coach at the playoff level.

I never thought there'd be such a thing as a "system quarterback" in basketball like there is in football. However Marion has proved to be nothing more than a system baller. In that uptempo style of play Marion excelled as his athleticism was on full display. If you take him out of that system he becomes merely an average player with elite athleticism. Stats inflated very much with the Suns.
