I’m intrigued by the Suns reported interest in Sabonis. He’s got 15 triple-dbl’s because of his passing ability. DA will never have a triple double in his career. There would be issues defensively with him at the 4 but offensively they would get better shots. He also gets to the FT line which is an threat the Suns don’t currently have in their front court. Maybe I’m just a sucker for bigs who see the entire floor.

who do we really have to pull off a deal for him, though?

Admittedly I haven't seen much of Thad Young play lately but I was hoping for a quicker power forward and a better outside shooter. He looks more like a center right now and the Suns have plenty of those.

Maybe this allows Cam Johnson to back up Bridges?

Also Young's expiring $14 million expiring contract has to be attractive to the Suns.

Saving money would be the ultimate Sarver move in a championship contending season

God he just looks so washed when we played them

It's kind of how I feel as well. Young said something to the effect he needs consistent minutes to be effective.

Honestly I wish the Suns hadn't given up on Stix. They could still have added another big man with the open roster spot.

Ayton BB IQ and effort is just not there.
After losing 10 pounds while sick and missing two games, Deandre Ayton returned last night to clock a massive 45 minutes while adding 28 PTS & 13 REB.

Can we PLEASE bury the "Ayton is lazy" narrative?

Knowing this board, probably not.

That's fine and all but we've seen this story far too many times to trust that this is the time when things click for him. He needs to show up and put forth consistent effort for that narrative to disappear.

I thought there would be a lot of activity already but I guess that NBA tampering investigation of illegal contact before the opening of free agency has slowed teams down.

Seen what story? You're saying he'll have a great game and then be mediocre? He's been playing consistently from the 2nd half of last year until now, but keep pushing that narrative if it makes you feel better.

I'd love for you to explain how he hasn't shown consistent effort from the playoffs last year on.

There's an internet full of clips of him helping on D, running the floor, doing everything the team needs, yet people still bag on him.

The narrative will disappear once people pay attention to what the man is actually doing instead of lazy takes about "effort".

It's particularly rich the day after the guy plays 48 min after being sick as a dog.

I just read a bunch of those trades.

Do they really think the Pacers would part with Sabonis for a bag of chips.

I didn't see anything I thought would work other than Ayton and I don't want to go there.

Yeah, those deals seem way to good to be true.

Cam Johnson is a nice player, but I cannot believe he can be the centerpiece of a trade for Sabonis.

Yeah, Cam Johnson wouldn't be enough and he is coming up for a contract extension whereas Sabonis has a reasonable contract for years to come.

We’d have to throw a ton of picks at them to make any deal happen... or likely make Bridges the centerpiece of the deal.

So we have a big headline article about "speculation and rumors" because the Suns have "shown interest in recent years" in Sabonis.

Oh brother. That's messed upon on several levels. I didn't know that "speculation and rumors" were newsworthy for one.

Secondly, wouldn't this move Crowder to the bench and disrupt our defensive chemistry, which has been pretty impressive most of the time? Crowder seems like our floor general on defense, barking out like a middle linebacker. We are currently 4th in the NBA in opponents' field goal percentage and 3rd in point differential. The added scoring and depth would be great, but I am not sure this works out for our defense and team chemistry. And wouldn't this also soak up money needed to resign Ayton?

If we get Sabonis then Ayton isn't getting the max this summer. I can't see Sarver spending that sort of money.

It's hard to see a trade for Sabonis without the Suns throwing in at least one nice chip.

Most of these rumors are for clicks and entertainment value. It takes something to get something.

Top players aren't going to be traded without something significant in return.

Barring serious injury or illness, I just don't see any chance that Ayton doesn't get the max this summer. It might not be us paying it but he's going to get a max offer from someone this offseason.
