Barring serious injury or illness, I just don't see any chance that Ayton doesn't get the max this summer. It might not be us paying it but he's going to get a max offer from someone this offseason.

if this team doesn't Max Ayton out this summer, i hope someone forges a tape of Sarver saying the most racist/sexist things possible to run his ass out of town.

it's a no-brainer. the guy has taken another step forward this season. is it a giant leap? no. but it's another step and he's taken these steps every year. There's no reason to believe he won't keep doing them.

Seen what story? You're saying he'll have a great game and then be mediocre? He's been playing consistently from the 2nd half of last year until now, but keep pushing that narrative if it makes you feel better.

I'd love for you to explain how he hasn't shown consistent effort from the playoffs last year on.

There's an internet full of clips of him helping on D, running the floor, doing everything the team needs, yet people still bag on him.

The narrative will disappear once people pay attention to what the man is actually doing instead of lazy takes about "effort".

It's particularly rich the day after the guy plays 48 min after being sick as a dog
.
Who has said anything about lazy today? Talk about bad takes . . .

They could at least do rumors more realistic like Torrey Craig or Thad Young.

I should have been more specific but I meant we're not paying him the max if we bring in Sabonis. He'll get if elsewhere and we'll claim we'll match but it won't happen.

I don’t think the Suns need to do anything major in the trade market, let alone anything that’s going to break up the core. If you can flip Stix for some depth like Thad or Craig that would be fine with me. The pieces we have are working so well right now and I do feel like this teams success is predicated on everyone playing a role. So depth is where I would look, small trades or buyout market.

I don't quite agree. I think we're paying him the max no matter what but on the off chance we've decided to not give him the max and are bringing in Sabonis, I'd be surprised if DA wasn't part of the package to make that happen (multi-team trade).

Hopefully the Suns interest in Sabonis is a thing of the past.

I don't think the Suns would keep both Ayton and Sabonis.

The thing why Sabonis is so a attractive is he doesn’t make any money at all.

The only reason to not keep both of you had both would just be being cheap

If you can get Sabonis for players that are not part of your rotation, then sure.

The Pacers are not going to trade Sabonis for filler and 1st round picks that figure to approximate the value of 2nd round picks.

Sabonis has much more value in a trade.

Cam Johnson, Dario Saric and Jalen Smith works in the trade machine. I wouldn’t give a 1st rd pick past 2024 which is the first year Book isn’t under contract and CP3’s team option comes up. And that still doesn’t get it done anyone.

I saw that teams are interested in Larry Nance Jr. if Portland makes some moves. For the right trade I might be interested.

He makes approximately $10 million a season this season and next.

I'd be interested in Nance Jr if he's available. He's someone I've liked for a while. If Portland does blow it up then I'd be for Covington also.

Literally no one called him lazy today, but keeping making stuff up.
You literally didn't read what I said again, even after I asked politely. I said it's a lazy take to criticize his effort.

Covington would be nice as well. He has a $12,975,471 expiring contract.

It's a faulty claim that since he puts forth effort in his return game that he always puts forth full effort.

Again, nobody made that claim, but nice work making things up. It's among a strong body of evidence that I presented that showed the evolution of his game and how he's showing consistent effort and improving.

You've said "That's fine and all but we've seen this story far too many times to trust that this is the time when things click for him". Things are clicking, and have been clicking for awhile, but you keep banging on what you see as his inconsistent effort.

"He needs to show up and put forth consistent effort for that narrative to disappear."

He does, and he has, but the narrative is still here. (and you're pushing it) Weak.

So we have a big headline article about "speculation and rumors" because the Suns have "shown interest in recent years" in Sabonis.

Oh brother. That's messed upon on several levels. I didn't know that "speculation and rumors" were newsworthy for one.

Secondly, wouldn't this move Crowder to the bench and disrupt our defensive chemistry, which has been pretty impressive most of the time? Crowder seems like our floor general on defense, barking out like a middle linebacker. We are currently 4th in the NBA in opponents' field goal percentage and 3rd in point differential. The added scoring and depth would be great, but I am not sure this works out for our defense and team chemistry. And wouldn't this also soak up money needed to resign Ayton?
Crowder, Saric, Payton plus picks works. I would think that a trade for Sabonis would include Crowder. Not sure it is worth disrupting our chemistry, but you take risks sometimes.

The fact that he is an expiring makes him more attainable. Covington would be a fit with this team. He plays--or used to play--great D.

Works for the Suns, but why would the Pacers do it? None of the Crowder/Saric/Payton trio would be that appealing. At best, you're losing Cam Johnson and more realistically are losing Bridges +.

You need to specify “plus picks” because it would take a decade of picks for them to accept that craptastic package.

Why would they want crowder?
