The 4.6 is too slow. He's closer to Clarett than Trey Benson in the 40. Doubtfull that he' be able to break tackles at the NFL level like he did in college. Guys are too much bigger, stronger, faster. The NFL makes fast guys look slow. What's it going to do to a slow guy?

Skattebo reminds me of Kyren Williams who ran in the 4.65 range. They both seek contact and are built low to the ground making them hard to bring down. I'm not looking for Cam to outrun people. What I do expect is when defenders come in and try to arm tackle him they are not going to get him down.

oddly enough-- I think Skatt could be a really good third down back.

Size and attitude to pass protect. Excellent hands -- and his skill set is very good in the open field

in an NFL that plays so much zone -- to be able to throw an outlet 4 yard pass on 3rd and 7 -- and know your RB will run over a DB to get the last 2 yards to move the chains is a valuable thing

id like to see two backs in the backfield more this year instead of so many double/triple tight end sets

Connor ran 4.65 at the Combine.

Which measures out to a 4.5 at a Pro Day.

Skat running Connor’s combine time at his Pro Day is not the same thing.
I think you literally just make that argument. If skats time at pro day was a 4.53 and you say that at pro day that equals a 4.6 at combine then he ran a better time than Conners 4.65 at combine, no?

if he had run the 4.5 we're talking round 2
I think way too much is made out of workout numbers. Personally, I don't believe an extra .15 on a stopwatch is that important in overall evaluation.

As is someone like Monti is sitting around thinking, "I love this kid! We have him in the top 50 on our board!"

"Oh noes! He ran a 4.65 rather than a 4.5 40! Now he's maybe #100 on our board."

I like the vertical Skat had at the combine. 4.6 is what he looks like and that's decent for him. He and Conner would be that smashmouth combo. 3rd day pick. DL, Edge, OL, and WR will come first before a rb.

Honestly, if he’s not taking that into account, he’s an idiot. You can try to downplay .15 difference as nothing, but that’s just not the case in the NFL. Speed matters on offense, especially in the first three rounds of the draft.

It does. But track speed and game speed are not the same. Plus, a power back is more likely to produce quickness in pads over a scat back,...simply because the few pounds of gear do not affect them as much

Of course it is taken into account. But I don't think an artificial workout setting is some kind of deciding factor in drafting a kid.

Personally I think he's a 5th round type of talent and will have an NFL career but will not be a star. If he ran a 4.2 it wouldn't change my mind much because I saw him play so much.

I agree, what's he running in pads and a helmet. Some guys carry their equipment better than others. Taking his time in shorts is not ideal. IMO
