Its pretty good DCR but if he doesn't fly this season I am DONE! Its ridiculous how long they have drug this out and he doesn't fly yet. He knows he can or supposed to be able too he just simply doesn't try and thats just silly, he needs to fly this season or I may give up on this show.

This might be the last season anyway, so if you're done, then good for you. :D

Didn't Doomsday kill Superman in the comics?

I have a comic book (the only one I own) from about 13 years ago called Death of Superman.

Still have it and its in mint condition.

Doomsday did kill Superman.

After that it just got weird.

Smallville may have a similar "stunt" in mind.

A little while ago there was a BTAS/JL cartoon version of the event, but I've never seen it to say how good it was done.

Here's a Wiki link to how it all went down in the comics:

But do all rich kids end up on a deserted island in the smallville universe. :)
That's Ollie's actual origin story, I think. at least, it's his origin story as semi-recently retold by Kevin Smith in the semi-recently relaunched "Green Arrow" comic book.

I just caught up from the second half of last season. Theories on who "X" is (the person who stole the crystal)? I'm pretty sure it's Lana.

As for the paramedic being Doomsday, I hadn't heard that. Seems it'll be quite the departure from Doomsday in the comics. I could maybe see him being more of an Eradicator character (which is where I thought they were going with the guy who turned out to be John Jones, Martian Manhunter...come to think of it, he was sort of a combo).

Not a great episode last night, but competent--it's hard to follow up a great episode like "Bride", where Doomsday attacks.

But hey, we got a bunch of mythology stuff. He was ALMOST called "Superman" and he was called the "Man of Steel".

Also, the genesis of Braniac5 - the "good" braniac that fights with the Legion.

Nice casting of the Legionaires, BTW. But if they had time travel ability, why not go back a day and hang out to protect the crystal?

And thanks to Pantone for clueing me into the hiatus was just that and not the end of the season. I would have just deleted this one thinking it was a rerun.

That's too bad.

This show kinda, no, it's taken a turn for the worse. The only thing that works is his becoming Superman. Flying, fighting crime that doesn't involve him just protecting his friends.

This show is the biggest ****tease in history.

Agreed. For the first time in a couple season, I feel like Clark has actually taken steps towards his destiny. The last couple seasons prior to this one, it felt like he was spinning his wheels.

PS. Word is that they paid Tom some serious coinage to come back for another season.

Anybody else stiill keeping tabs on the show? I thought that this season has been pretty good. I'll wrap up the 2 hour movie tonight. I've enjoyed the movie thus far and it seems as though the old superheroes should have an impact on the new Justice League.

The character development for Oliver and Tess has been excellent. I like that General Zod isn't the entire focus week in and week out.

.......

As a side note, are the characters featured in the movie, real comic book heroes?

The 2-hour "movie" was really only two episodes edited together. You can tell that by the lack of characters in the first hour (no Lois or Tess).

But that's not a big deal. I thought the 2-hour ep was one of the best episodes in the series in the last 4 years or so. Just solid all around. I'm not a comic book guy, but I'd think that those into comics would like it as well.

Yeah, it was good. A big reason why is it was written by Geof Johns, the guy who has written some of the best JSA stories ever. My ony gripe was that the Icicle was tough enough that he could best these heroes two at a time, and then he gets an all-powerful artifact on top of his latent ability and he gets taken down in literally 45 seconds. Anticlimactic battle, IMO.

Is this the final season of Smallville?

Still up in the air. The 2-hour episode had Smallville's best Friday ratings since September 08, so that can only help it. And Tom Welling has a good thing going, I'm fairly sure he would love to do a season 10. ESPECIALLY with everything that was revealed in this last episode...

Chap your spoiler is right on. I like how that was just thrown in there but not much talked about. Problem is he is not on the show anymore wonder if they have plans for him to make a return?

It's not like he's been busy with other projects and making tons of money. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him back for at least a multi-episode arc.

I thought the concept was cool but I couldn't shake the "cheese". At any rate, you hit one of my complaints on the head. In addition, I love Michael Shanks but when he tried to use his deep voice a couple times I got Christian Bale "light" flashbacks of the guttural voice thing.

Smallville has been renewed for it's 10th season. Apparently, the move to Friday night had it shoot up in ratings.

Still loving the show...although I have to wonder about Clark recently:

Destroying that building and watching the rubble fall to the city below...how out of character was that??? Superman never, ever gives in and does stuff like that. How many could have died from the falling debris.

THoughts?

Interesting that you say that. That point at the end of that episode where he destroyed the tower was a defining moment in the series and with Clark Kent. It was pretty awesome.

The problem is that in the subsequent episode, he returns to being a wimp. :)

As for being renewed, we knew it was going to happen for a while, ever since they renewed the other 5 shows for next season (ANTM, 90210, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and Supernatural). But there's a strong possibility that Chloe will not return and they are trying to get
Michael Rosenbaum
for 9-10 episodes.

Well, I agree it was awesome...however, it was still out of character. Sure, I wouldn't mind if he stopped being a wimp, but to destroy something that might result in people dying...not his style. Not how Superman works.

Well, to be fair, it was not open for business yet and construction was either finishing up or just finished, so the implication was that the place was empty. And since it was so big, there might not have been any inhabited structures nearby that were populated late at night. That's probably too much analysis for that show, but there you go. :)
