Just curious for those saying we need a new starter, because even though the guy drives me nuts with his ints...it can be a lot worse, a hell of a lot worse then his 4000 yards and twenty or so TDs (yes, I know he had over 20 ints but the crap option would have that and no yards and no tds close to him). I think some forget how hard it was for this team to get a decent QB even close to Palmer's level after Warner left. Can we improve the position, yes with a fictitious free agent which does not exist lol. Yes, we should draft a QB if one the staff views as a franchise QB falls to us, but with Arian's complex offense, I find it hard for us to go Andrew Luck with the kid and expect success from our draft spot and starting him. Palmer is still pretty damn good considering the options and again, he has faced two of the top defenses in the league of late. Yes, they are in our division but news flash... Tom Brady is not available or Peyton Manning. Let's get real :)

I only know of one person calling for Palmer's release today, so I am not sure that the plural form of genius is necessary. :p

I'm fine with Palmer next year, but if there's a good QB prospect in round 1 or 2 that we pass on because Palmer "isn't that bad", then we reap what we sow.

He's very good compared to the rest of the trash we've watched the last three years, but he's mediocre compared to the rest of the NFL and if we ever want this team to truly compete, it's the good NFL QBs we need to be as good as or better...not the pathetic Cardinals we've had to watch.

I have seen about three so far and that is three too many for a forum that is pretty dang smart as a whole. I admit we need a better QB, but he is more than serviceable for the next two years considering how hard getting a viable NFL starter is

Palmer will be our starter next season regardless of what we do or don't do in the draft. Dude through for over 4,000 yards this year, with pitiful production at TE, a down season from Roberts and a banged up/injured Fitz for 75% of the season!
I'm psyched to see what he can do with another full offseason and camp under his belt!

I agree, as I stated if our staff feels one is there when we draft early, then draft him...my gripe is seeing a few people wanting him gone now without the commonsense of realizing QBs of Palmer's level are even scarce lol

Touche. I was at the game so I wasn't in the game thread. Probably missed some complaining there.

I agree that we ride Palmer next year for sure and probably the year after. But I also think it is wise to look for a prospect if the right one falls to us.

I agree. Great franchises look to improve themselves whenever & wherever they can. If there's a better option than Palmer, then go after it. I have faith that BA has been around long enough to make that determination. Personally, I think BA really likes Palmer & he'll be back.

They need to draft a QBOF high( At least 2nd rd.) and have CP as starter for two more seasons. As long as CP can cut his INTs in half next season the cards will contend.

I think they said on TV that he is the only qb in NFL history to throw for over 4000 yards for three different teams. Quite an accomplishment if you ask me, if that's true.

Yeah. If there is a QB that they like in the draft, draft him. If he beats out Palmer, great. If not, maybe next year. Creating competition is never a bad thing.

I agree with those who have stated Carson is a huge upgrade over what they've trotted on the field the last three years. I, for one, don't want him kicked to the curb just because we could use a better QB. He is tough as nails and we can darn sure use him the next year or two until there is someone to take his place. For all appearances, he came to a team that had sucked out loud for years and gave it his best shot.

I highly doubt a QB will be drafted in the 20 spot that will come in to be the savior in the first year. The team will need him. I hope the term Palmover goes away... I didn't like reading it here.

Palmer absolutely needs to be replaced. Whether or not we are able to do that this coming season is another story! I agree you keep him if you must but other options should be explored namely a young rookie!

Doesn't that just mean he couldn't stay on one team? That is good?

I too think it is Palmer's job but it is also time for drafting his replacement.

I forgot there are a bunch of Andrew Lucks coming out and we are in position to take one... give me a break. What the hell why don't we just make a trade for Luck he seems to know Arians system...they couldn't possibly want to much for him.

Why are people so eager to throw a young rookie into the mix? I'm all for drafting one and letting him sit for a year, or two, but I don't get this Palmer absolutely needs to be replaced sentiment.

Name 5 QB's that had a better second half of the season than Palmer. Heck, name 3. Manning and Foles are the only 2 that come to mind. Brees didn't. Brady didn't. Ben is possible but he had a couple clunkers. Wilson didn't. Newton is possible but more because of his running ability. Romo, Eli, no. Stafford, Dalton, Rivers, no.

Anyway, you get the picture. The guy was probably the 3rd best QB in the league the 2nd half of the year and we want to kick him to the curb. Palmer's only real bad game was in Seattle, a place where every QB not named Mike Glennon struggled mightily this year.

Palmer doesn't need to be replaced, but the QBOF needs to be addressed.

Would love to see the Cards draft Metrenberger. He could sit behind CP and learn the offense before hitting the field.

At the very least, Palmer buys the team some time to draft and groom a young player instead of making a desperate signing or trade.

Yup, I'm with most folks in here. Palmer is the best option we have for 2014, and I hope we draft a QB very early.

Right now, I have a love/hate feeling towards Palmer. I admire how the guy isn't fazed by interceptions or adversity. But, on the other hand, I don't want him to exhibit that trait almost every friggin' week!

But, where we are going to draft, you cannot make the mistake of drafting a certain position come hell or high water. And, after round one of this draft, there will not be a QB taken who you would just hand the reins to.

I don't like Palmer and never have but he's definitely the starter next year. Hopefully we draft a guy that can take over in 2015.

JSG, couldn't agree more. That's what is wrong with a 2 year plan. "CP can stay for 2 more years and that's all." Find our QBOF now and groom him for 2 years, plug him in and can CP. Done.
