Anyone know anything?

I just want to point out (and yes, I was one of them) that all the fans who were squarely on board for giving him the 8 mill at the slight chance he might pitch this season - this has been an unmitigated disaster. Its alot easier to swallow when its not your money I guess.

I don't see anyway he's on the team next year.

Last I heard he is supposed to pitch off a mound around this time. If that is true and all goes well we could see him in a month. The thing about Webb is the D-Backs gambled and so far it looks like we have lost, though it could change. When you have a pitcher of Webb's caliber and can get him for $8 mil it is a bet you take every single time. I am in no way shape or form upset by the decision. Say he comes back in the middle of June and has a strong 2nd half, would you say this was an unmitigated disaster? If he shows he can pitch during the 2nd half the D-Backs may be able to get him to a one year deal next year for him to build up his value. I would not be opposed to that happening.

The problem is who is going to save the games late. outside of 1 starter they have been going 6 or 7 innings and leaving with the lead. Having Webb wouldn't make much difference.

I think it would make a difference.

It would certainly take a lot of pressure off Dan Haren, who is not pitching at the level of the head of the staff.

Webb has said he will not give Arizona a home discount so I think they should trade him before the deadline.

Who is going to take a pitcher that hasnt pitched in almost a year and a half and might not ever pitch again?

If he comes back and pitches in June and July, there will be many teams who would take a chance on an All-Star pitcher. The teams with money to spend would take a shot because if Brandon could pitch close to what he once was, they would get a great deal. It would not cost much to get him and the potential is a risk many teams would take. I don't see the Diamondbacks having any problems getting teams to trade for Webb.

Seriously? What would you expect to get for a pitcher who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2008 and is making $8M this year and will be a FA after the season is up?

Honestly, if you're going to suggest trading him, what would we expect in return?

Exactly, Webb will NEVER get another fat deal after the last 2 years.

No pun intended.

As bad as the team is, could Webb pitch out of the bullpen if he cant go 6 or 7 innings? He can't be worse than what we have now. The starters have ok but this bullpen has been a complete disaster. They are not going to get the full value out of him no matter what they do

I think that IF he returns and shows anything of his old form, a contender will make an offer.

That offer should be of a legit set up/closer guy and/or top pitching prospect(s).

I agree and don't think he will get a fat deal but if he can comeback this year and pitch well without any problems, I think he could sign a contract that is incentive laden.

As for trading him, if he does come back and pitches well, it's my opinion a team in the pennant race would trade some prospects for him. I could be wrong but I would think the Diamondbacks would shop him if he is healthy.

As for trading guys, who do you all think could be shopped? I don't know how much interest these guys would get but I could see CoJack and possibly LaRoche. It's not like they will get much for them. Going to have to build through the draft.

Even though this team is bad, there is still a part of me who thinks they can turn this around but the bullpen will have to miraculously get their act together.

He was throwing with an improper arm slot. His arm was at 110 degrees but should be between 98-102. He has to start throwing all over again.

We will not see him this season.

I'm thinking I may see Webb in Reno later this year, pitching for the Aces. :(

To be honest i have chosen to ignore any Webb related news until i actually hear he is on a mound in Reno. Dbacks fans dont be too hard on yourself and dont punish yourselves by gettting your hopes up everytime you hear or read something about Webb throwing a ball, playing long toss or doing star jumps.
