He's still not going to be 100% after his injury, I like the kid, but he has this problem, I think we all are hoping this problem goes away but I like BW too and he went into the doghouse for fumbling, this kid should go there too.

For a while.

This.

BW and Hightower both rode the pine for fumbling.

RW needs to ride the bench too until he can prove he can stop putting the ball on the ground. For some reason the organization keeps hyping this kid up and so far it's just not showing up on the field. We were very lucky to escape this game with the W we earned before that fumble.

I can't believe you all are even worried about this at this point. I could see if we lost but we just WON the damn game. Cut the kid a break....We just won probably our biggest game since the Super Bowl. I will take the win anytime..

Agreed. I'm not going to draw and quarter the guy but he's played football long enough to know how important ball security is there and that the defenders will be punching and stripping. No excuse for the fumble. He's earned a timeout.

He wasn't wounded. He just gave away a football game, at which point it's fair to say "Hey, this guy just cost us a W." Why's that wrong?

The kid deserves to be criticized not buried without ceremony.

Yup, this thread is ruining it for me, gonna go party now.

It's cool, Dawg. The kid heard the bullet and saw Jesus.

Enjoy this one to the fullest! We BUILD from this. We use it to our advantage. The whole team learned a lesson today.

Cut the kid a break all you want but the rest of the players are watching. Williams has one job above all others at that stage of the game and he failed miserably. The outcome doesn't matter, it's a case of each player being held accountable.

I don't know, I think if we'd have lost maybe, but things like this, letting someone off the hook at the last second, well sometimes people need the full horror of what they've done to change.

I hope he does, I hope you are right, but if he ever does this again, I'd cut him that day.

Beanie also had fumble problems when he was in his rookie year for us. I'm not giving up on Ryan but he will be in the doghouse for sure.

Some of you need to forget those shiny videos the team made all offseason about what a great kid he is.

His ball security is flat-out terrible. I don't care how hard he tried all offseason. 2 games, 2 lost fumbles, 1 run over 5 yards. Those of you who are not drunken homers know a flop when you see one, and this kid is not getting it done. Make all the excuses about the playcall you want. All the runner has to do in that situation is FALL DOWN and NOT FUMBLE.

I'm with you Ed.

On the pitch & the situation, Williams shouldn't have cut back inside, stay with your blockers & don't run into the kill shot, which he did. I also don't like the fact that Ryan tries to play like a 230 pounder & taking on tacklers which he's not, this kids career is going to be short if he keeps up his running style. Not a huge Ryan Williams fan & still don't understand the decisions to bench Beanie with the game on the line :bang:

I'd have to see some more replays to see how Williams was carrying it, but didn't Spikes get his helmet right on the ball? Sometimes no matter how securely you are carrying it, you get the helmet on the ball and it's coming out no matter what. If he wasn't covering it up that's one thing (and I'm not sure if he was or wasn't), but sometimes these things just happen even if you are doing everything right.

Just wish they didn't happen to us so much!!

No excuse for the fumble but maybe the Whiz deserves to be in the doghouse for calling that play.

No. The outcome does matter. We won. He can be forgiven and we can all move forward. I just don't understand how anyone can be down on any Cardinal after the win we had today. Our players wanted it more than the Pats. We went into the lions den, pulled his teeth and came back out as a real winner. Can't we let that settle in for a little bit before we start the dark side chatter?

Maybe but without Beanie, we had limited options. NE is too fast on the edges for most teams to run outside and Williams is not the best choice to run up the guy. The pitch isn't all that bad of a call. NE still has a time out and anyone that doesn't think they could go the 30 or so yards they'd probably need for a FG wasn't paying attention to the Patriots TD drive. On top of that, we don't really know who made that decision.

But even if Whiz did make that call and even if it were the worst decision in the history of the game, that would not excuse Williams on that play. It was his job to hold on to the ball at all costs. He failed. I still like and believe in the kid but he needs to earn his way back out of the doghouse.

Nope. My point is, he cost us this game except for luck on the missed fg. .

Actually, LSH would've been my #1 goat. If LaRod runs out that kick, NE never gets a play after the 1st down run by RWill. Goat #2 would've been Williams...thank goodness we had luck on our side because the loss would've stunkkkkkk! :bang:

The outcome doesn't matter in respect to Williams and that fumble. I'd say the same thing if we had recovered the ball. I love this victory but that doesn't mean you gloss over a horrible play like this one. The coaching staff can't just say "oh well, we won so no biggie". You lose games in the future by not dealing with this stuff now. Two games, two critical fumbles. That's a problem that has to be addressed.

Amazing how they forget this so soon. If it hadn't been for that first down run, we wouldn't have been in position to win. Mistakes happen. Karma was with us and we won anyway. Sometimes destiny is a real bitch, but as long as she swings in your direction, you can't lose.

You are only as good as your last play.

I just believe Williams needs to get some credit if he has to carry all the criticism. He got the Cardinals one huge first down in the series prior to the fumble which should have been enough with conservative play calling. Fumbles are not excusable but let's look at the whole picture.

Where was Beanie?

Best post I have read in this thread. It would have been criminal to not give LSH his due on the KO return if we would have lost. I think the coaches got on him for all of the returns out of the end zone that failed to get to the 20 last year, and now he's being too tentative.

Thank god for the win!!!

Doesn't matter what we think, that's not how the Cardinals as a team roll. Bunch of high character dudes who have each other's back, and guarantee'd they'll support Williams in the post game interviews.

And they should support him. I don't think he played himself out of the league. But, he's had two horrible fumbles and you can undo a lot of goodwill with blunders like that. Ball security needs to be a primary focus for the kid especially since it's a safe bet that future opponents will be making even more effort to go for that ball now that he's shown vulnerability with it.

I like this quality. Maybe the fans should develop it as well. It's so easy to criticize.

I agree with you, no doubt. Some blame should go to RB coach Tommie Robinson though. Williams isn't the first RB in this joint to have fumbling issues.

New best post in the thread!! Two games does not make a career, and I'm still not betting against Williams.

Yep. Nobody disputes that it was a horrible fumble. I'm just glad we won, I actually think we deserved to win.
