Bad call and a bad play by Williams. We shouldn't have trusted the rookie to do the right thing. Take a knee at that point.

Not giving up on Williams yet but he will need to earn his playing time.

If he doesn't fumble the Pats probably get the exact same last second field goal try.

As someone pointed out earlier, if LSH doesn't take the knee on the kickoff, the main thing Ryan Williams is remembered for in this game is icing it at the end.

That wasn't RDubs fault. Pats were coming hard that was an awful decision to do a toss sweep there. Incredibly stupid.

I'm a fan of RW, but the call had NOTHING to do with it. A toss sweep there was just fine. He had the ball, was moving with it, and just got stripped. It happens. But it IS on him. Not the play call.

Yeah, but that's all static. All that matters is there are several times a year when you need to be able to give the ball to your running back with the absolute surety that he won't cough it up. Even if that play had been called back due to a Pats penalty, it would tell the exact same story about Williams. He's not ready for prime time.

I wasn't wild about the play call because a sweep has a bigger chance to go out of bounds if the runner doesn't go down.

Beanie himself on whether he was hurt. RT @BeanieWells26: @Cardschatter @jasonzumwalt not at all

Beanie wasn't injured. Whiz just chose to go with RW.

Love the title of the thread. Made me laugh.

His teammates picked him up and he needs to learn from it. Am I concerned that we found Timmy Hightower 2.0 with less nose for the end zone? Yes.

Can't sit him for this yet. YET.

Yeah, obviously a lot more can go wrong with a pitch sweep and he had already broke two up the middle for a 1st down. Game's already over. Take the knee. The Giants learned this the hard way once against the Eagles.

Why does everyone say take a knee? There was still time on the clock and we would have had to punt anyway. Why not try for positive yards and maybe even the unlikely chance of a first down? Is it the coaches fault that Williams has ball security issues?

It is debatable, but it also had the better chance of picking up yardage. I was ok with it. I would have preferred RW had continued bouncing it outside, but he cut back into the teeth of the D.

RW will have the game click at some point. This is his second pro game. The run at the end was nice. The ball security needs fixed.

He was the happiest guy in the stadium, though, when they missed the FG.

Yep, announcers called it.

The announcers said he was injured, but nobody ever showed it and to me it sounded like they assumed it.

Beanie per Urban's tweet, says he wasn't hurt at all.

I think Lynch just assumed he was hurt because he doesn't understand Whis' platoon series approach.

Yeah, I don't think any team in the league would have just taken a knee in that situation. Every second counted there and we were going to leave time on the clock no matter what. Brady had just waltzed down the field for a TD on their previous drive and all he would have needed on this one was field goal range. That's not unheard of with 30 plus seconds, even with no TO's remaining.

The what if game can be played to the cows come home. Regardless of his talent and potential he still put the ball on the ground, with the game on the line, two weeks in a row. He/they need to get this fixed before the luck factor goes away.

No not their (coaches) fault. Still wouldn't put a rookie in that position with that call. Get the positive yds. up the middle if you don't take the knee. He was running hard up in there, it's just a safer play call. Who's to say he wouldn't have broken one up the middle again if they were all intent on a gain there?

The last two minutes were just one mistake after another:

LSH has to return the KO to get down to the two minute warning. The only excuse I see is that the KO went short (barely made the goal line) and then bounced like 10 feet in the air.

So the team gets a first down and puts the Pats in a bad spot. But on 1st and 10 the team loses 3 yards. No biggie. No gain on 2 nd down. No biggie. At this point on 3rd and 13, I either kneel, or maybe have Kolb run the boot (staying in bounds and getting down prior to contact). The odds of a running play going 13 yards there is very, very low.

In any event, RW should have been under instructions to go down if the first down wasn't there. No point in taking on a 255 lb MLB to get an extra 1/2 yard.

Fortunately, Belicek repaid the mistakes with the old "play for a 42 fg even though you are moving the ball" Do that, and you are begging for your kicker to gag

It wasn't Ryan Williams fault at all. Some fool put a post up on the game thread praising Williams right after that first down run and calling out K9 at the same time.

We all know that's a sure fire jinx. You just can't do that at that time in the game on ASFN. Veteran posters should know better.

RW is going to be a special running back for the Cardinals; I can stand to be very patient with him.

You on the other hand....
