So, maybe let's not play Ryan Williams anymore

Sitting Williams outright isn't the answer. The Cards need him to play through it, especially if they truly do believe that he will be a special player in the future.

I think he's earned his way into the doghouse. I trust Whiz to know how to handle him and I'm not going to fault him if Ryan sees fewer carries next week. I really doubt that Coach will just bench him outright though. The kid has too much to offer to just give up on him.

What are the options at this point? Beanie couldn't finish the whole game... LSH is better as a complimentary back... you want to ride Powell instead?!

They let him play through the first one, and he didn't learn how to protect the football. This time, he gets only 1/3 of the series, IMO. He's not productive; he's not seeing the field well; he's not being patient waiting for holes to open. He looks like a mini-Thomas Jones right now.

The Cards can't afford to lose 2-3 fumbles a game if they want to win the NFC West. It's not like the Cards' only alternative is Marcel Shipp.

There is ONE THING you absolutely CANNOT do in this situation and it's FUMBLE THE FOOTBALL. Ryan Williams fumbled the football by using poor judgement and trying to get a couple of yards instead of protecting the football at all costs. If Jimmy Johnson was running this organization, Ryan Williams would be cut tomorrow. So far Williams has shown me absolutely nothing that we couldn't have gotten from Tim Hightower and Hightower was a better pass blocker. Two fumbles in two games and very mediocre play otherwise.

A win is a win, but this kid has been a major disappointment thus far. If this fumbling problem is NOT corrected it WILL eventually cost the Cardinals a game. He also cost himself a big gain on a screen pass when he did his great juggler impersonation. :(

Gotta play him through due to Beanie being an injury question each and every week. Now he's gonna be a target for all defenses to knock the ball out, so he needs to correct it before he's seeing 2 carries a game.

Doesn't matter what we think, that's not how the Cardinals as a team roll.back, Bunch of high character dudes who have each other's and guarantee'd they'll support Williams in the post game interviews.

This.

The 'having each other's back' is what was missing in the Super Bowl Cardinals. We have that now.

They'll be all over him. Probably starting with a series of visitors to his seat on the flight home. But to the outside, they'll have his back. Feels great knowing we got this group of men on our team right now.

This would make some other NFL teams very happy.

I'll just say he's been disappointing so far and leave it at that for now

Lower his carries, make him earn more.

Let's not forget that some great backs like Tiki Barber had huge fumble problems when they were young backs too.

Or that we're talking about giving Beanie the ball, the same Beanie who himself had fumble problems early in his career.

Overreacting and being impatient with young players is not the answer. Especially now that rookie contracts are fully guaranteed.

It'll get corrected. It's early. He was running hard in the end. Don't know how you don't give any credit there. And a lot of times he was being met in the bf. by tacklers.

How anyone can trust Williams at this point is beyond me. If it wasn't for a missed FG he would have blown that game today. Blaming the play call is BS he is a Pro football player, it was a good pitch he had the ball he went forward and he just didn't hold on...the guy has been all hype and no substance.

I can agree with that, but I do see a breakout game in his near future.

Same here. I think still think Ryan Williams is going to be a special running back when he figures it out.

Again way too early to just push him aside.

Do you give him any credit for getting that crucial first down on two carries on the series before the fumble?

Because he's the golden boy. Didn't you see those offseason videos?

10 carries, 13 yards. 1 fumble lost.

That does not negate the fumble at the worst possible moment on our half of the field...not even close. It's not like he had a good game overall, one carry does not make me forget this-- 8 carries for 9 yards and a fumble last week, 10 carries for 13 yards and a fumble this week.

And two very critical runs in the end when they knew he was coming and couldn't do anything. Really bad that he fumbled again but he's going to get his chances like it or not.

I also liked THT, but he didn't have this guys speed and cutting.

Beanie had 14 carries for 44 yards. No one's putting Ryan Williams on the waiver wire; he just needs to take a seat a little more often. He needs to earn his PT.

If he doesn't fumble the Pats probably get the exact same last second field goal try.
