Anyone who is under 20 years old, european, or otherwise considered as a "project" Phoenix needs veteren Leadership, not another young guy that will need to have special coaching for the next 5 years before we see anything of his potential.
This is the main debate. Do you take someone you know will be "good" but may never be great, or take a chance on someone who won't do much but may become a star? There is no "right" answer, but it defines everything that follows.
The Sun have good success lately taking great athletes in the lottery, Marion and Stoudemire; but they knew enough about them to know they would produce fairly quickly. We didn't, but they did.
Are they inclined to take someone they KNOW won't produce for at least a couple of years? I am saying I don't think so. They want guys with a lot of upside, but not at the expense of being able to play at least some right away.
For this reason, I'm quite sure they will not draft Josh or JR Smith, Livingston, Pavel, MA, Telfair, Ramos, or Perovic. They don't want another Bedford.
