Name the one guy you are praying we don't draft.

I am going to pick Devin Harris. 6'3 175????

I would rather give Barbosa another year and bring in Vujanic.

MA is the one I'm most concerned about - for the same reason I didn't want them to get Zarko last year: who will he be able to defend? I know he's younger than Zarko but the reports about him are even worse - he can't hold his own in the paint against guys his own age and is bothered by any contact. A couple of reports said that he was considerably weaker than the other skinny Euros.

Of course I trust the C's... I trust them to make the same mistake they did last year.

i personally trust the suns to draft a player (if they stay in the draft) who will be better then 75% of the people in the draft. there is no team out there who is better at finding gems in the draft then the suns. No One.

If they take him I'm not really going to complain because I haven't watched him play, but my gut (a rather large voice) is telling me Biedrins is a bust. Of course 10 days ago I was saying that Livingston was my choice for bust of the draft. I still don't believe he's going to contribute right away, but you probably won't be a bust.

Livingston for me, but there are a few others I wouldn't exactly be thrilled with either. MA is certainly one of those, but I think there's almost no chance the Suns will draft him, so I'm not too worried about that. Livingston is more of a threat if he drops. I'll be very nervous if he's still on the board at #7. Did you read he could barely bench 135 pounds?

Edit: And now I read that the Suns are bringing him in for a second workout. Ugh.

I saw that, I know that him having such long arms makes it difficult to bench but that is just awful. Only other numbers I saw was Howard had 7 reps, Biedrins had 15 reps and Okafor had 22 reps all at 185.

Like others have said I will trust what the Suns decide to do since their track record speaks for itself.

I thought it was 185 pounds? That is still bad for an athlete.
I will try to find the article.

I think if Livingston is there, there is a chance the suns will take him.
He is supposed to have the biggest upside along with Howard, and the suns will be interested in players like that.

Josh Smith. I'm not really worried that they will take him, but I think he will be a bust. He doesn't sound like he has that incredible desire to work to become great that separted Amare from the other athletic HS wannabees.

I don't want Podkolzine. I see a (short) future of airballed jumpers and chronic injuries for him.

I also don't want either of the PGs, just because I can't see enough upside in either to justify burning the #7 pick and Vujanic for him. I guess if the Suns take one, it will be hard to argue against their expertise, though.

Despite the bad press, I would probably feel better about the Suns drafting Devin Harris than Ben Gordon. I guess it's because I've seen Gordon play a lot more.

Pavel was the prospect I was least interested in - everything I've read states he has a hard time getting to drivers to challenge shots with reaction speed BUT if he can defend Shaq like Jake Tsakalidis did or Jahidi White then he will remain at around #10 on my list.

Shaun Livingston and Josh Childress are the 2 currently that are slated higher, that I'm not too interested in.

Iguodala
Harris*
Gordon*
Biedrins
Smith
Synder

Harris and Gordon would be an upgrade - possibly leaving Vujanic overseas for another year. Barbosa could play combo guard role - 1st option for me would be Iguodala though, to convince Vujanic to come to states and to have another passer on floor at multiple positions (along with defender).

Yeah and how much could Penny Hardaway bench when he came in the league? Since when is that such a factor...especially for a rookie PG?? Were you planning on putting Livingston on Shaq or something?

Dont worry, if we need a strong PG we have the Eisley the Hulk to put the clamps down.....

Anyone who is under 20 years old, european, or otherwise considered as a "project" Phoenix needs veteren Leadership, not another young guy that will need to have special coaching for the next 5 years before we see anything of his potential.

this is from the east valley trib. and posted on suns.com today.

BONUS SHOT: The Suns will not stage a public function for next week’s NBA draft. Season-ticket holders can watch the draft at the arena pavilion at First Street and Jefferson starting at 4 p.m. June 24. The Suns are scheduled to draft at about 5:10 p.m.

now what can we read into this? the suns have a history of letting the public watch the draft when we have had draft picks in the past. if we trade the pick and know that the trade is going to go down then it would make sense to stop the public from coming to the draft.

but by the same same standards why would they bring in their season ticket holders if they were going to trade the pick?

I don't think we will get any idea of what is happening until right at the end (if then). For one thing, the expansion draft is an enormous wild card.

One of the odd things about the expansion draft is that it creates an IMMEDIATE trade exemption, even for teams that are well above the cap. But in the Suns case, it would mean a deal could be made for a player using the pick BEFORE the draft without having to wait until July 1st. I haven't figured out a scenerio to use that quirk, but it is interesting.

Nothing. Last year, the draft party at Fox Sports Grill was also open only to season ticket holders.

Officially, anyway. I don’t think they turned anybody away at the doors. My guess is, if you show up, and you’re not incredibly obnoxious, obviously drunk, smelly enough to nauseate everyone within a city block, or naked, they’ll probably let you in.

They might even relax the dress code, depending on how you look.

This is the main debate. Do you take someone you know will be "good" but may never be great, or take a chance on someone who won't do much but may become a star? There is no "right" answer, but it defines everything that follows.

The Sun have good success lately taking great athletes in the lottery, Marion and Stoudemire; but they knew enough about them to know they would produce fairly quickly. We didn't, but they did.

Are they inclined to take someone they KNOW won't produce for at least a couple of years? I am saying I don't think so. They want guys with a lot of upside, but not at the expense of being able to play at least some right away.

For this reason, I'm quite sure they will not draft Josh or JR Smith, Livingston, Pavel, MA, Telfair, Ramos, or Perovic. They don't want another Bedford.
