I think in today's market he would want 4 years at 50 million. With around 22 or 23 in guaranteed.

That's Corey Davis, Tim Patrick, and Curtis Samuel money this year.
That would be a massive mistake. $12.5mm a year for an average #3 WR or can’t break tackles or get YAC outside of a deep ball. Yikes.

Give me any of those 3 guys over AJ any day.

You do realize that Samuel has 6 catches for 27 yards this year?

Professional sports can be strange. Some of us who have watched football for many years have seen dozens of examples of free agents changing teams and never replicating their success. Alvin Harper leaving the Cowboys for the Buccaneers was one of the early examples of a wide receiver never coming close to replicating their success when changing teams.

I'd probably look to lock up Kirk to around $12 million per and let AJ Green walk. Antoine Wesley and a draft pick could replace him.

I do. I don't trust AJ at all. He has had 2 (I think) good games all year.

At least with Samuel, you are paying for potential.

Potential....he has literally never had a year as good as the year AJ is having....and he has been hurt most of the year.

One thing often overlooked is that receivers play different spots. The question should be Kirk vs. Samuel.

The question (and the entire thread) is about AJ, why would we bring Kirk into this debate?

Because you are saying you'd rather have a guy that is better suited to playing Kirk's role...a guy who has been almost a nothing burger his entire career and has had 26 yards all year over AJ Green's 800 yards receiving.

No, I am saying I would rather have any of those WR, than re-signing AJ. I thought that was pretty clear.

Yeah, but what isn't clear is that only Samuel is likely to be available because he is a prime cut candidate because his year has been awful.

Green has been decent as a #2/3 this year.

If that is the part you want to focus on.... sure, I'll agree.

AJ is getting paid like a #2, but is playing more like a #3.

Yeah I'm completely lost now on anyone claiming that.

Samuel at anything over $6 million is total robbery.

I didn't say I wanted Samuel at over 6M, or any number. I would prefer it to re-signing AJ.

Where is the rank our 2022 FA list thread at? Sorry dont feel like looking for it.

Dont know where else to put this but here since we're talking about Kirk now.

That would be tough.

Wow that is exactly what I figured his next contract would look like.

He has been a Philips type bust....maybe more so actually.

Throwing good money at completely unproductive players can really hurt a team. AJ Green has been pretty productive at a lower tier veteran cost.

He is not worth that - no way.

Time to draft a reciever in the 2nd or 3rd round again.
