He is not worth that - no way.

Time to draft a reciever in the 2nd or 3rd round again.
Choose your potential injured replacement

Would you sign Gallup in the offseason (probably is going to be much cheaper now) or take John Metchie in the 2nd round?

I think a team like the Lions would give him that contract. Maybe a little more. Just a question how team friendly Kirk would be.
Not very is my guess. Nor, should he be. This is a business, his commodity is his body, and he has a very limited time to cash in on it. In fact, this could be it. He isn't taking 10 million less to stay here.

I like that his hands are reliable. Other parts of his game might be hit or miss. But if you hit him in the hands he's usually going to catch it. That will be important in the playoffs.

5 years 50 mil with some in incentives. E.g. 1000 yards in season

thats kinda my thought.

with the players it is all about the guaranteed money. so instead of 4 for 50mil with 20 guaranteed...offer him 5 for 45 mil.....with 35mil guaranteed.
gets him more money in his pocket and lowers the cap average to a manageable amount.

lets not forget he is from here...his family is here....
if we are even slightly competitive, he will stay

We've drafted far too many receivers and our current GM is no good at it. Go the FA route instead.
The only problem there is our gm has been terrible drafting, period. But no team can afford to go the free agent route on every position. Arguably the only positions keim has drafted successfully have been safety and to a lesser extent rb (Ellington, DJ, and Edmonds are all serviceable to good rbs at one time or another but no homeruns other than DJs one hit wonder season) and to an even lesser extent cb (Murphy can play and Wilson looks like he will grow into a good player). So you can’t just throw your hands up in the air and say don’t draft a position of need imo.

Trade for Michael Thomas. That’s going to solve the Wr problems.

I had to laugh when people said he’s off injured and a diva. That can’t be further from the truth.

James Lauranaitis is on a local talk show here and he was saying Thomas was the hardest working teammate he’s ever been around and a 1sr class person.
The injury part can’t really be argued. He hasn’t played much in two consecutive seasons. You never know what you’re going to get after that kind of span.

The concern is if we don't keep Green we might need TWO WR's. Maybe Rondale steps up and Dortch takes his spot then you only need to replace Kirk assuming Rondale took the slot.

in a draft where we need interior DL, interior OL, CB etc you can make a strong argument that the first or second pick is going to have to be a WR like Drake London who figures to be a late first or someone similar in the 2nd. If we get a FA to replace Green and Rondale is able to replace Kirk then you don't draft a WR but as mentioned FA WR's are not all that easy to pick.

Or you can say what if Wesley continues to impress maybe he's your Drake London?

I'm the contrarian on Kirk he drives me nuts with drops etc but I think he's back. Kyler loved Kirk, has said several times Kirk is the "glue guy" on the offense. They have played 3 years together that's really the only WR on the roster in that situation since Andy basically never plays now. I think the Cards are trying to build their offense around Kyler so they're not going to let a guy he loves walk unless he's just WAY over demanding in money.

Just MO.
Although I’d not give Kirk big $$$ I think Russ is right. I think they resign him. Not only for the reasons Russ states, but he’s a keim draftee. I think keim will feel compelled to have his guy sign a second contract considering so few do.

I think whether it was the best long term move or not people here wanted Lamb. Even if Wirfs was better. It would have secured a legit #1 (or #2) WR to go alongside Hopkins. And you could have spent AJ Green's money elsewhere.

Even if Zaven Collins is the better long term play than Najee Harris. Its why having him under contract for 4 more years would have put less pressure on resigning Conner and Chase. One of those drafts needed to be for offense to keep a nice balance of the roster. Lets hope teams dont throw too much money at our FAs cause Im not sure we can instantly replace them. Since its likely go defense AGAIN in the 1st round.

Its also why I think Isabella will be back next year. Not cutting a 2nd round pick before his contract is up.

Forgot to add I still think we keep Kirk for the reasons I said before, we're building around Kyler, Kyler loves Kirk, if you keep Kirk you only need to replace one WR and that's assuming Green is gone. I still like Rondale but realistically he has not shown he's going to be ready next year to take Kirk's spot.

So if Wesley continues to make plays while replacing D Hop in a way he's auditioning for the job replacing Green next year.

There's lots of spots we're going to need but I have to admit I just am a big Drake London fan I think you put him opposite Hop next year with Kirk in the slot and Rondale back at the 4th Wr I think this offense is amazing.

Not sure London will be where we're picking. Maybe Olave or Burks from Arkansas.

London is slated for end of the first round so in our ballpark but that's right now. He can't work out now with the injury but by draft time it's possible he'll go up if he runs well. IMO he's the perfect replacement for Green big bodied WR who catches with his hands, highpoints the ball, good after the catch. Not great speed but fast enough and he's great downfield because he just plays above people

Outside of the 1st round I honestly have no clue haven't watched that much college ball this year. I like Pickens from Georgia but I have to admit it's because of the last name reminding me of Carl Pickens, hard to really judge him this year since he came off ACL surgery.

Unless there’s health concerns, Burks is going to get drafted way before London. Olave might, too. I bet teams are going to shy away from big bodied WRs who struggle to separate.

Oh I'm sure it would be better if he were faster yes but I think part of the interest in London is last year was the first year he was strictly a football player, he stopped playing hoops, and he was off to a great start when he got hurt. 88 catches in 8 games, double digit catches in 5 games and would have been 6 but he got hurt in the first half of his last game having already put up 9 catches and 2 TD's.

In the WSU game this year he saved THREE INT's on bad throws by just boxing out the defender, one of them was at the goalline and he scored on it.

Not saying he's as good but scouts compare him to Mike Evans the size and the ability to go up and get the ball. he's also quite good after the catch.

But as I said I think we have bigger needs it's goign to depend what happens in FA do we keep Kirk, do we sign anybody else. And frankly it depends on what Wesley does the rest of the way, 3 TD's in the last 2 weeks he's helping his chances of playing more next year.

I haven't formed an opinion on Kirk, (re-sign or not) but if we need two WRs because of Kirk and Green, give me Kirk every time. Yes, it will lost a lot more long term. He has room for growth and is still young.

Don’t forget Arcega-Whiteside as well. Big bodied WRs from the PAC12? No thanks.

I’m sure cause Mike Evans was eating against good SEC secondaries.
