Horton is the last choice and has been since his last interview when he told them the staff he wanted to bring in. He would have been hired already, its not like there is a threat of him going anywhere else. I think its stupid to promote him when we can have him as the DC next year here as well. People are fooling themselves thinking he is a lock for a job next year either when there might only be two or three openings.

Yes, but his contract is over after next year and the conventional wisdom is that if Horton isn't the HC, he will move on regardless. Insiders (take them for what they are worth) seem to think Horton values his pride over the money the Bidwills could toss his way to smooth things over.

What insiders have said this? Do you have a link? All I have seen is simple speculation from guys like Mitch. Who is by no means an insider.

Seriously, for all we know, MB, Horton and Keim are talking about finding an OC that both the FO and Horton are comfortable with versus a search for HC continuing...

Somers has been one of the more credible sources on the topic (i.e. he hasn't rushed blindly "to be first" the way the national and local broadcast media and Internet football gossip sites have done).

So what he's saying is Horton or then Haley or then Gruden (& I'd take that seriously)

Heard it on the radio, but can't remember the show (NFL on Sirius or maybe NFL Network) and locally on Bickley and MJ. Here are some tweets from Jurecki:

Mike Jurecki ‏@mikejurecki
IF Ray Horton doesn't get the Cards HC position, one could assume he'll bolt after next season, has one year left, completely understandable

Mike Jurecki ‏@mikejurecki
We'll see! “@AZDiesel bolt to where? Nobody wanted him as a HC. Cards will offer an extension and he will take it.”

Like I said, the insiders have been wrong a lot, so take it for what it is worth.

And here is a Somers article on Horton playing the waiting game.

if horton is #1 option, there is not 2nd and 3rd as horton has made it clear he wants the job. I would think saying that is the AZ preference is a little silly.

As underwhelming as I expected. 2013 is looking like a train wreck in slow motion.

Norv Turner hasn't signed to be anywhere just yet. Might be doing a last minute push
