Starter sucks.
People clamoring for the backup because he looks good against scrubs.
Only thing worse is that there still others who want the third or even fourth string guy to be in the mix for the job because he almost brought us back in a meaningless preseason game against future waiters and insurance salesmen.
ugh preseason sucks.

Griesen, Hall, Lindley, Case, Bartel, Palko, Navarre, McCown, King, Brown Skelton, Graham.. blah, blah, blah. :bang:

I find humor and frustration in reading the same old slobbering of the backup QB. <insert backups name here> can be the QBOF and all that is funny and sickening at the same time. I wish one of these guys would truly step up.

There's a real problem here. Look at the picture #1, what's wrong with this picture - over and over and over again.

Its is looking like this team will need to step up in a much larger way and dedicate significant resources into the QB position if they want long term success.

Kolb seems like a first step, but a bit of a half measure. Hopefully this folly will not continue into next regular season.

How is it a half measure when you give up more than a 1st round pick in compensation and then pay out a $62 million contract? It was a bad scouting job, but the Cards were all in on Kevin Kolb, until they weren't.

The Kolb failure would have sunk another staff. If Kolb continues to play like Kevin Kolb and Whisenhunt survives to coach in 2013, he'll be the Teflon playcaller.

Oh I know that the line stinks. THat is why I laugh when people tell me that the line played so much better when <insert backups name here> was in the game. "He commands better play, or he "stands tall" in the pocket and all that. We've heard that a million times.

Kolb will get hurt again and Skelton will bail Whiz out and Whiz will just think it was a fluke because Kolb will make so much money and Skelton's
paycheck is infinitely smaller.

Skelton will get bailed out by the defense and everyone will think he is the second coming.

Maybe.

If he wins, then he wins another game.

I for one have no problem winning games with a QB that has nothing to do with the wins.

I don't dislike Skelton. I'm just not sold on him.

Who IS sold on him? I don't think it's an accident that most of the people who prefer Skelton are the same ones who would like to see us draft Tyler Wilson next spring. I think that the vast majority of people supporting Skelton don't believe that he's any kind of Quarterback of the Future who is going to win a Super Bowl for the Arizona Cardinals. If you do think that, please speak up.

The question is who do you want to see this year, because next year I think we see a(nother) new starting quarterback. I've seen enough of Kolb in games that count--I'm not particularly concerned about last night. But if we're going to trust this staff to train the next quarterback, then I'd prefer to see John Skelton and Kevin Kolb again in 2013, because I have zero faith that this group can develop anybody.

Preferring Skelton over Kolb is not a testament to Skelton.
It just shows how terrible Kolb is.

The O-line is terrible, we all know that.. But it looks decidedly more competent with ANY other QB behind center.
Kolb's only move to buy more time, is to roll out, or run backwards.
He has absolutely ZERO pocket presence.

My point in stating a half measure was not doing the appropriate level of homework in regards to the player they acquired. They paid a significant amount of cash up front for a car they forgot to do a Carfax on. In the future, show me the QBfax on any used model acquired.

This.

I've said this before: It's like eating a crap sandwich day after day. Then one day someone comes along and puts some salt on it and you're like damn this is the best poop sandwich I ever had!

Do you really believe this to be the case? That they invested $62 million on a guy that they didn't perform due diligence on? Do you think that Whis and the Millers were playing Minesweeper in their office and waiting for NFL Network highlights of Kolb to come on during the lockout? C'mon.

It's easier for me to believe that the coaching staff and front office were just wrong (again) in their evaluation of a free agent player, than to think that they got bamboozled by the Eagles because they only sent over the tapes from when Kolb looked like the second coming of Jeff Garcia.

Yes, I do. They made a panic move. I think they saw what they wanted to see and ignored the reality of the situation. For all the talk of the Kolb sweepstakes during the lockout, when it came down to it the rest of the league appeared to have little interest. While the Cardinals, sitting there with Max Hall and their 5th round Patriot league player as their alternatives, were all-in for Kolb.

That's what I'm talking about. It ain't always the OL. This guy bails at the first hint of pressure. And everyone knows which way he's bailing to. It's a joke.

Agreed. 100%. Same as it was last year.

Agree.

They had all of the info and signed off on the deal from top to bottom.
