‘Star Wars’ Spinoff Films Nowhere Near Set: Disney Still “Just Kicking Around Ideas”

http://www.deadline.com/2013/02/sta...t-yet-disney-still-just-kicking-around-ideas/

Disney CEO Bob Iger’s announcement Tuesday that the studio plans new Star Wars spinoff films has caused an avalanche of rumors online about which characters will star. Jedi master Yoda, bounty hunter Boba Fett, a young Han Solo are named the most. Deadline, however, has learned that nothing is written in stone yet. A source tells me: “Nobody knows when these movies are even coming out. Right now, people are just kicking around ideas. Which is why you hear it’s Yoda one day and a young Han Solo another. It’s all in early development right now.”

Fringe’s John Noble May Play A Villain In Star Wars: Episode VII

http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/scifi/fringes-john-noble-play-villain-star-wars-episode-vii.html

Now that the dust has finally settled and we know that J.J. Abrams is going to direct Star Wars: Episode VII for Disney, we can move on to other things, like wild, unsubstantiated casting rumors. Here’s one for you: a report states that Fringe star John Noble is up for the part of a villain in the next chapter of franchise. Who knows if this is legit, or if it will turn out to be real, but you could do a hell of a lot worse.

An Australian radio host named Jo on Fox FM said that she “has it on very good authority that Aussie actor John Noble will be appearing as the villain.”

When her co-host pushed the matter, she stood by her statement, and made sure to point out that this was definitely for Episode VII, not one of the recently announced stand alone films.

He'd be a great villain with just the voice alone. He's a perfect host on Dark Matters. Kind of has that creepy yet smooth voice like Vincent Price.

Carrie Fisher confirms her return as Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode VII

http://nerdreactor.com/2013/03/05/c...in-star-wars-episode-vii/#SAySCY4FoE4ODfIt.99

Carrie Fisher, who first donned the Princess Leia buns in 1977 in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, confirmed YES, she will be returning as Princess Leia for Disney’s Star Wars sequels.

In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Fisher was asked “Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?” She answered with a firm: YES.

When asked where she thinks Leia is now, Fisher responded:

Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.

I can get behind a return of the old characters (really old in Harrison Fords case), I just hope they are there to pass the torch to a new generation, so to speak, not the entire focus of the new movies. The Solo twins from the New Jedi Order novels make an intriguing story...Jaina "Sword of the Jedi" Solo and Jacen "Darth Caedus" Solo.

Also not sure if any of you watch The Clone Wars cartoon, the last episode of this season was(IMO of course) by far the best one of the entire series.

That's likely the point of bringing the old cast back. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lando too.

As for Clone wars, that was also likely the last episode of the series now that Lucas has killed it.

If you haven't followed the news, it appears there will be two previous characters brought back as....... ghosts. Browse the interwebs and you can find out who.

I hope this doesn't become a ghost battle movie...

Will we be hearing "Unchained Melody" in the film?

Abrams writing XII with Lawrence Kasdan. Best news I've read about Star Wars since I was a kid. Kasdan co-wrote Empire. (He's also written a bunch of other great/good movies, namely The Big Chill).

OT: anyone listening to the "star wars minute" podcast? They discuss A New Hope one minute at a time. Good stuff.

Not to mention Raiders of the Lost Ark and Silverado. I think it's great news that he'll be involved in the writing process.

Supposedly an open casting for "lead roles" for Episode 7.

The description of "Rachel" sounds a little like Tahiri Veila from the novels (my speculation but it is who I thought of after reading the description).
From Wookiepedia...
Tahiri Veila was a female Human Jedi Knight in the New Jedi Order and later the Sith apprentice of Darth Caedus. The descendant of a Jedi of the Old Order, Veila was born on the planet Tatooine to a pair of moisture farmers, Tryst and Cassa Veila. After the deaths of her parents, an orphaned Veila was adopted by the leader of a Tusken Raider tribe, and thus she was raised as one of the Sand People.

Not sure of the Thomas character

The description of Rachel sounds like Joss Whedon is writing the script.

Which one of these is not like the others:

May 21, 1980
May 25, 1983
May 19, 1999
May 16, 2002
May 19, 2005

Because THAT's gonna stop Star Wars nerds from going to see it....
