I thought you liked The Force Awakens.

Wasn't a big prequel fan. I loved seeing the closest thing to the original trilogy return to the big screen. Not a huge fan of the plot re-hashing and wish it had been more original. Not really sure if Abrams' "fits" into the Star Wars Universe, honestly. Really looking forward to seeing what Rian Johnson has done with the next episode and was hoping he would be added for the ninth episode and add some continuity moving forward. This is supposed to be a trilogy, but so far it looks like it will be three movies shoved together and called a trilogy. Fans want a naturally flowing story.

Heck, since Awakens we have had Rogue One. Gareth Edwards did a great job, IMHO. I'd rather see him helm another movie in the universe than JJ, but that's just me.

Probably want to ease off the Gareth Edwards of it all since Tony Gilroy had a MAJOR role in rewriting/directing the reshoots that changed apparently 40% of the movie.

Okay, plug in Gilroy where I said Edwards then.

So that I am on the same page. Movie 8 is the on that is coming out this year, "The Last Jedi", right? Are they planning on stopping it all on the 9th one and just doing off shoot films like Rogue One and the Hans Solo films?

I've always heard that they plan on putting some Star Wars related film out each year. One from an ongoing series (or series of trilogies) and then every other year with the standalone "A Star Wars Story" films.

There will be Star Wars movies every year or every other year from now until the end of time. Seriously.

I would think they wouldn't want to shut it down. To much of a money marker and they did spend 4.2 billion for it....

yup. Consider Star Wars the next Marvel. Wouldn't surprise me if they kept being massive juggernauts at the box office if we start getting two of them a year, like Marvel.

What I like about Star Wars are all the different directions it can go because unlike the comics, it doesn't have a long documented cannon that in many ways the movies have followed to keep those fans happy.

Star Wars on the other hand is a bit more wide open. Especially, since they thew the extended universe to the curb. I think it has more legs than Marvel Hero films which people will get burned out over eventually.

Until they run out of ideas and come out with the JarJar backstory!

I so hope Rey goes to the dark side. It won't happen, but one can wish....

Rian said today to avoid the trailer if you don't want spoilers.

and after watching that, I can only say... JESUS... did that trailer just give away THE ENTIRE MOVIE?!

I think there is some deliberate misdirection going on. Disney has been very calculated up to this point. No way are things what they appear to be.

No doubt. Disney is smarter than that.. I hope.

When Snoke is talking at the beginning about raw power and something special, I think he's actually talking to Rey, not Kylo. Maybe because of this power is why she was dropped on Jakku - to hide her from Snoke. She may have been who Snoke was looking and turned Kylo turned against Luke during his training to get to Rey.

That's exactly what I thought. When I saw the preview on MNF I was shocked how much they showed... felt like I had watched the entire movie already. But still... no way Disney is showing their hand like the preview depicts... that would be catastrophically dumb.

Looks like Disney is trying to bust the all-time box office record.

First, the theaters must pay Disney 65% of the share of ticket-sales revenue. That's 10% more than the average rate. Upping that to 65% sets a new benchmark for the industry.

Second, Disney is requiring that the theaters reserve their largest theater auditorium for 4-weeks exclusively for The Last Jedi.

If any theater doesn't follow these terms to the letter they are in violation. The consequence is that Disney will charge an additional 5% of ticket-sales revenue as a penalty.

That's a crappy way to do it. Although I admit it has pissed me off as of late where Theaters have a major movie on their largest screen then 2 weeks later it's replaced with a romantic comedy or whatever else on that screen and moved to a smaller one. Why the hell does a romcom need to be on the largest screen? I have seen a couple of my local theaters pull something similar.

Fans are freaking out about this trailer. Some are saying it's proof Luke has gone dark. They said it looks like he is stealing the Falcon and that Rey standing over him means that Rey/Luke are against each other.

Is it me or did I take all of that to be completely different? I took the first scene as Luke taking it all in being on the Falcon again. I took the last scene to be similar to the Luke scene on Dagobah with Yoda. I think it's a vision or test similar to that one. It could also be just a scene where Rey loses control of her Anger and Luke is trying to get through to her.

Fans overreacting?
