I bet they also build them using the scale trick. So probably when you look at them they seem much bigger from the ground. Similar to what they did for the castle.

Yep!

It's also what they do on Main St. If you look at the building facades on Main St you will notice that the second story of those buildings are unusually small. It's called Forced perspective. In fact the second story on Main St buildings are 5/8th scale. If there is a third floor it is to 1/2 scale.

However if you are like most people you barely even notice if you are not looking for it.

Trevorrow (director of part 3) was fired today.

Man... can't imagine wat that final product is going to look like to wrap up the "trilogy". Princess Leia throws a massive monkey wrench into things.. wonder if how to rejigger after Fisher's death created the split here.

"Paging Ron Howard, paging Ron Howard please come to the studio... Oh, you're already here."

Wonder if they'll get Johnson to come back for 9? Unless he's already committed to something else.

I still don't get how they are handling it. I mean how do you handle something like that when they already said no CGI and I think they said they will not kill her character?

What's left? Seeing her ship hyperspace out for good? Something like when Yoda went away? I mean, seriously, I just don't get how they are going to handle it.

they have to kill her in the crawl. I don't know how else they effectively do it... not that that would effectively do it, but one way or another, she has to die and that has to tie (off-screen) into the endgame you'd think

could they use a lookalike?

They said they wouldn't go in the Walker look alike direction from Fast 7. But who knows... they got themselves one big pickle to get themselves out of here.

if true, this is an incredibly stupid way to tell a story:

"Nothing's mapped out. it's really more like you're given the last episode and asked 'Okay... what's next?"

Very stupid.

This should have been a planned trilogy from the start with the beginning, middle, and end all planned out. Certain immovable plot points with plenty of flexibility to fill-in-the-blanks, but you need structure. You need a path. I wish they could have gotten the same screenwriters and a director or pair of directors to run the whole show. Looking back on it I doubt it will seem cohesive at all. SMH.

I fear they're either going to write backwards to make certain set-ups/questions are paid off/answered.... or they'll just flat out ignore all of those.... and just ask more questions without payoffs, like pretty much every single thing JJ Abrahams has ever done.

Possibly. They said no CGI. I didn't see them say no look alike. So maybe a far away scene where she flies off or dies!?
Probably because Disney's facial CG sucks. You'd think with all of Disney's resources they be much better than they are. It's gawd awful.

Nine was supposed to revolve around Leia's story of this trilogy (7 was Han and 8 is supposed to be Lukes). Obviously, that's in doubt, but honestly I think fans would be ok with some CG Leia if it were minimal; maybe similar to Vaders role in Rogue One.

Well, to play devils advocate, the originals were never really mapped out either. Not knowing how it would do at the box office, SW was originally a stand alone movie. That said, it's 2017 and this is Disney, so you'd think they'd at least have the trilogy story on a napkin somewhere, right?

Quite possible, but I'm going to give Disney the benefit of the doubt here. They can't "Disney" this property or I hope they don't. They do seem to have a vision for the SW franchise since this is now two movies they've parted with the director on. I have more faith in Kennedy than Disney.

JJ would not be the right director for ep9 and I hope they stick with Johnson, but we'll see.

I hope they stick with Rian as well.

As far as Episode 9 revolving around Leia... a large part of me believes that to be very flattering spin for their fallen hero. She was pretty mediocre in Episode 7, not in good health and as she's gotten older seemed much more comfortable acting in comedy than the strained/meh performance she gave in Ep 7.

I am not sure if Rian would have been a good pick for the next movie. I don't know how anybody could make that judgement until we see the next movie. However, I was very happy with TFA minus revisiting the death star well. However, I have come to the conclusion that it will never stop if recent rumors are true. It seems the Empire/First Order will always seek the ultimate weapon.

So, not upset at all they went back to JJ. I just hope he brings in other writers. Possibly bring back Kasdan. JJ is a setup/idea guy. That is his strength. I want a very solid writer in there.

I thought Kasdan was involved in all the trilogy movies or at minimal his son was. His frustration with the previous Solo directors was part of the reason they got the boot. But, yeah I hope he's involved as it needs some (re)work with Fisher gone and he's really the common thread of the franchise from a story perspective.

Ugh. Just ugh.

#lensflare
Nah, he didn't abuse it in TFA, so I doubt he'd revert back now.

Well, here's JJ's chance to answer some questions he posed in Awakens.

Bottom line... I know it'll prob be frustrating, but at worst it'll be entertaining. All his movies are.
