You can see why it's costing almost a billion dollars. However, I was disappointed that there are only 2 rides. Almost a billion dollars and only 2 rides in the entire land?

That's a disappointment.
And it'll probably cost and extra $50 per ride

Well, there is this, at least:

Disney is opening an immersive Star Wars Hotel where each guest gets a storyline
:jedi:
In other words, it’s… like… Westworld (or, you know, as close as anyone can get) plus Star Wars, minus all the sexy and/or murdery stuff.
BOOOOO!!!

BOOOOO!!!

I just read a rumor that they have to expansion "parcels" that are reserved for future rides. However, it just seems a little ridiculous to do such a massive expansion for 2 rides. Just saying.

How are they going to write in Carrie Fisher's death? I mean, they can probably get by this movie with whatever they already have plus some CGI if need be but they're eventually going to have to kill Leia off at some point.

That's the million dollar question. I can't think of a plausible scenario where she rides off into the sunset. Especially, now that Han is dead. You also can't simply pretend she no longer exists.

It looks like she gets much more screen time in TLJ but they can have her ship get destroyed unless they want her to go out in a blaze of glory but they didn't with Han so maybe she will meet a similar demise.

They had a huge model set up at D23 that showed what Star Wars Land will look like when it is complete at Disneyland.

:shocker:

Holy crap that place is going to be awesome!!!

I was disappointed by that. I dont know why, but it just doesnt have a Star Wars vibe to it. I think the mountains make it feel more like Pandora/Avatar.

They should have identifiable Star Wars stuff. Like the death star, Naboo, the falcon, some full scale AT-ATs, yodas swamp, etc.

The have an Avatar exhibit at EPCOT.

Edit: According to Variant Comics, it looks like there's going to be a replica Falcon as well as a Tie Fighter, X-Wing, and what looks to be Jabba's palace. Here's the video:

Watch the video then. It shows more than what can be seen in the photo:

I love the design. They had a challenge in that you want it to feel like Star Wars but without it being just one planet. It allows you to bring in several design elements but with a familiar feel both old and new.

It's spectacular IMO.

There's at least one in Orlando, but that's for the current land. Maybe they'll be part of this new one?

This picture was of the new park. I will try and find it. I am familiar with the one in Orlando. This was not that. It had to AT-ATs walking one behind the other.

I dont know what it is, I cant specifically say whats wrong with it. Just the vibe is slightly off.

My best guess is there arent many village-esque locations when thinking about the Star Wars universe. Its usually 1 type of geography.

tatooine - 100% desert
Endor - 100% dense forrest
Hoth - 100% snow and ice
Cloud City - 100% sky city
Death star - 100% mechanical

And when I look at this park I see sort of tatooine type buildings surrounded by some trees. Those background tall tower mountains (very avatar esque) arent from any identifiable Star Wars locs as far as I can remember.

Honestly I think it wouldve been better to have a segmented park, even if that means it doesnt flow as nicely. Have a Ice Planet Hoth area, then have the innards of the Death Star area, then have forresty Endor area, etc.

The theme of the park is suppose to be a centralized port influenced by many of the surrounding systems/planets. Extremely believable IMO.
