Please, Jets, beat us to him.
JETS! Dont need a HC....Bowles is likely safe....their rookie QB just threw for 300 yds and 3 TD's yesterday.... they are looking like they will be on top of their division next season with just a few off season tweaks.

Bowles is a bad HC. He’s most definitely getting fired.

okay.

say we hire McCarthy....and then bring in Bowles as DC...

what then?
I wouldn’t like that either, really.

I tend to think Bowles gets overrated as a DC. Like he’s Vic Fangio or something.

Bowles wasn’t a great HC, but I thought he was a very good DC. The Cardinals will NOT hire anyone without HC experience. They just got burned doing that & now they’ll move to the other end of the spectrum. So, of guys that have HC on their resume, is their anyone more qualified as an offensive minded coach than McCarthy?

The problem isn’t that they hired a guy without any HC experience, the problem is that they hired a guy defensive coordinator(in which we know DCs are basically becoming useless as HCs each & every day) with only one year of experience who basically already had a blueprint laid out in front of him when he was DC for Carolina.

I still would rather go after a 1st time HC with an offensive background then to go after a retread.

I understand your concerns with retreads, but I wouldn’t put McCarthy in that category. Journeymen retreads yes, but McCarthy spent 13 years with one franchise. He never got any credit when they won & absorbed all the blame when they lost. He’ll come in with a chip on his shoulder & work his butt off to prove his naysayers wrong. MB will not be a risk taker with this hire. You can pretty much take that to the bank.

you have anybody in mind?
Jimmy Lake, Washington Huskies DC.

Been a DC/Co-DC for a couple years now & always manage to have one of the top defenses in the nation. Especially pass defenses. 42, willing to adapt, & has NFL experience.
