Kolb was up against a very bad team in Minnesota. Currently 30th in pass defense. He completed only 50% of his passes and threw two INTs and had a QB rating of 46.9. But then it was like the Cards sent Shane Falco and the Replacement Players to Minny for that game.

Exactly what I was thinking too. KK laid an egg in MN and they were supposed to be a bad team too. At least with Skelton we won a game we were supposed to win.

Correction: Cardinals with out Peterson are 0-8.:)

:D Good point.

Kolb's dad owns a liquor store.

I'm in. I like Goldschlager, Jaegermeister, Sambuca, and vodka and Kahlua (for various Russians mixes), Kevin ;)

What part of Kolb's complete and utter clueless field presence makes anyone think he should start, even if healthy?

What are you even saying paso fino? Did I say anything about rushing? I said PP won that game not Skelton our D and special teams won the game period! We did not let them get into endzone all day, blocked FG, punt return for the win how on earth should Skelton become the new starter in your world? Oh don't forget the back to back safties he took!

And we never would have been in overtime if Skelton hadn't led the team right down the field for a TD in the 4th quarter.

As for the two safeties, they were ugly but I have little confidence that Kolb would have avoided them either.

The point is we don't have a QB. In that scenario, it's smarter to start the young guy and hope he looks decent enough to garner some trade value.

To steal a quote from Cowherd in regards to Tebow, "You don't deserve credit for putting out a fire that you started." Same applys with Skelton last game.

Hey we used to love to credit Plummer for that. Well 4 or 5 times a year anyway.

I think it's pretty obvious that at least as of now the trade looks to be a tad less wonderful than when it was made.

This is what scares me about this FO making moves, everyone gets upset when they don't do anything and that's bad but when they do DO something it rarely turns out well.

Warner is a grand exception to this rule, don't know who was behind that move but that one worked out in spectacular fashion, most of the other moves don't IMO.

It was a gamble they had to make though. We knew Orton wasn't elite. Kobb was our only chance of lucking into an elite QB. That's one thing I like about Whiz. He knows every now and then you have to roll the dice.

I keep hearing from the media how important it is to keep starting Kolb so you know what you have. And it makes sense. But seriously. I think we know what we have. And we already tricked Larry into signing. So I wonder how long we will have to keep pretending?

Skelton has the arm to hit larry in key situations, last week, the Dallas game on 4th down. Each week his performance will go up. Three more good catches by someone and he has a 300 yard game. Count the drops last game and he has it last week.
A 300 yard game next week and it will be very hard to justify putting Kolb back in.

I disagree.

Sincerely,

Well, it looks like the 'Start Skelton' campaign will be pleased for this coming week, as it looks highly doubtful that Kolb will be ready to play.

I think a decent chunk of people out there who felt that getting Kolb would only be a road block towards the Cardinals "lucking" into a franchise guy for another several years while they wasted their time on Kevin, who never had a chance of being a franchise QB.

If you (a) feel that, at the very least, KK and Skelton are close in ability and (b) KK's toe/foot isn't 100 percent healed, a decision to sit out Kolb should be a no-brained.

What should drive this choice is the health of Kolb. If his foot/toe is not absolutely 100% he should not start. Turf toe and feet problems are a lot worse than they sound. A lot of guys have gone down with turf toe and been out for weeks or longer. As you know without the use of your big toe you run like a turtle rather than a rabbit. Since the game is almost meaningless Skelton should start. It also provides us another chance to see what he has learned and should not upset Kolb as he is injured. I have a broken second toe that continues to bother me 7 years after breaking it. My Doctor told me at the time that I would likely have problems with that toe for as long as I live and the second toe is not nearly as important as the great toe.

+1, but then again, maybe this is the game that Kolb had circled on his calendar and awakes the warrior in him.

Still, if that toe isn't 100%, sit him this week.

Since Kolb spends a lot of time running backwards maybe that great toe is not that important. Surely you jest when you mention warrior and Kolb in the same sentence.

Many of our posters seem to have a love affair with Kolb as we did with Jake Plummer. I can understand with Plummer as he was a local hero. I do not understand love for Kolb as he has no ties to Arizona I am familiar with. He has done nothing to indicate he will be a QB of the future or even a backup of the future. I doubt you could get a 5th round pick for Kolb if you traded him today and doubt you could give him away due to his contract.

If Kolb is healthy then he plays. It is pretty simple.

Is anything really simple with the Cards? We are short on brain power up top. On this board I suspect that at least 50% of the posters would not have made the Kolb deal at the time. The only thing he had going for him was all the hype that was coming from Andy Reid and Associates. If you looked at Kolb's record over the past 7-8 years there was nothing there to indicate he could be our QBOTF yet we not only traded a badly needed starting DB but were foolish enough to give up a #2 very high draft pick and gave him a contract that some NFL starters would love to have. This could end up as the worst deal in Cardinal history unless Kolb has some sort of metamorphosis as a QB. We have added to our needs for next year including a DB and the ever present QB. We have also added heavily to our payroll which means one less good player we might have signed in FA. If you examine this deal closely from top to bottom I think you will be shocked at its impact on Cardinal football for some years to come. It is not like we just signed a QB who failed. I could live with that as we have done that many times. If we had signed one of the older experienced NFL starting QBs I would guess we would suggest we would be 4/4 and still have DRC rather than Jefferson in the DB position. We might even have drafted a QBOTF with our #2 pick next year or at worst a starting DL.

Someone posted if we had made no deal what so ever we would have a better team today.
Kolb: 1/6 Skelton: 1/0 Who would have guessed that at the start of the season?
