You may be right, but Anchorman is definitely as funny as I think it is. So there.Except IMO, Anchorman isn't as funny as you think it is. Again, even though something is funny doesn't make it good. Look at Police Academy.![]()

'Spider-Man 3' tickets spin fast on the Web
Sales of the movie tickets have out paced sales of 'Spider-Man 2' tickets at three times the rate.
Oh, I thought you were talking about something being good, rather than something being a moneymaker. You and I both know that audiences are the worst gauge of whether something is good or not.
sorry Chap, but almost everyone I know LOVES Anchorman, including me and most people liked Talladega. I just think calling Apatow a "good writer" is just ridiculous and, well, everyone in the industry who values comedy would pretty much agree with me.
That's ironic.Talking down to me like I'm an idiot isn't going to sway my opinion,
Anchorman has some funny parts, and one brilliantly funny part, but other than that, there is no substance and is a vehicle for Wil Ferrell to act like an idiot. Talladega Nights was horrid IMO--but I'm sure you'll invalidate that by saying everyone else loves it.
But look at 40-year-old Virgin, for example. Very funny, and well written, a decent comedy. However, as a filmmaker, I cannot say this is a well-made movie, because it isn't. The lighting is awful, ESPECIALLY in the bar scenes and the editing leaves a lot to be desired. Granted, most people won't pay attention to that, but I don't know why my opinion is invalidated because I do pay attention to it.
The bottom line is that I enjoy Apatow's stuff, I just don't think he "can do no wrong", as you were saying. Talking down to me like I'm an idiot isn't going to sway my opinion, just like my reasoning probably won't sway yours. This is being made out to be more than it is.
I have a question. Why do the measure movies in $ and not in quantity of tickets sold?
$ signs are sexier. It's that stupid.
man, you take things personal. Who said your opinion was invalid? I thought we were just having a discussion about comedy, one in which I have very strong feelings and feel like you're pretty off base. Don't I have the right to disagree with you? As far as talking to you like an idiot, not sure where I was doing that, but if that's what you took it as, I apologize.
you still never answered my question about the exec. producing credit - have you ever worked in TV before or for a very strong producer like a Golin, Rudin, Apatow-type? That wasn't meant to be a condescending point I was making - just speaking from experience and wondering if you've ever had the same.
Ah, sorry about that--I just got that thread in the Suns board about everyone being so nice to each other, and I just had to be rebellious.
I work in television right now, but admittedly not for a big producer-type.
