Not really popcorny, but what do you think of "Knocked Up"?

it's the movie i'm looking forward to seeing most this summer (next to Transformers - the trailers for that look SICK and I HATE Michael Bay). Knocked Up is gonna be an old school raunchy sex-ish comedy and that's popcorny in my book.

trust me, Pirates has what exec.'s in the business refer to as the "Four Quadrant-Film". It's a movie EVERYONE is going to see.

think about this, when you were a kid, didn't you or your friend ADORE the Sinbad movie or Clash of the Titans? I think it's the same thing here.

Never even heard of these two movies before.. And I too never thought of Pirates as a kiddie movie...

ABSOLUTELY !!

Sinbad: Fill your heart with courage!

Haroun: My heart is filled with courage, but I have cowardly legs.

I loved those movies. Still love them.

I used to get a summer pass and go see 10 summer movies for $5.00 at Harkins Los Arcos Mall. Some of the movies would change from year to year, but there was always a Sinbad flick in there (or Jason and the Argonauts). More than made up for the Pippi Longstocking flicks that were in the annual mix.

still not sure what you were thinking Chap when thought that Order of the Phoenix had a chance to beat out Spidey, Shrek or Pirates. At this point, it looks like it won't even crack the top 4 this year (Tranformers is still way ahead of it right now and even if you look at them at the same time, on their 17th day, it's still ahead of it and making more money per).

There will be a spike in Harry Potter numbers over the next few weeks because the people that bought the book and haven't gone to the movies are going to have it finished and want to see the movie again just so that they can keep their Harry Potter craze going.

I may have been wrong, why the hell do you have to browbeat that point?? It's a little disturbing that you're so obsessed with me on this. It's freaking box office, and it's a freaking opinion. I'm thinking that every post I make should come with a dissenting cheesebeef post after it.

Nah, you just need a disclaimer saying, "This is strictly the opinion of the poster making the post, and could possibly be wrong. The poster's opinion does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the rest of the world or the movie-making industry". That should cover your ass & make cheesie happy.

I'm really surprised you think this being in the industry and probably having as good of a knowledge as I do of box ofice returns, second weekend and third weekend drops, and so on, but hey, if you think there's going to be a magical spike, I guess Harry Potter's seems like the movie that could do it, being about wizards and all. ;)

uh, coming back with one post, now that we see how things have played out is somehow being "obsessed" with you? I just thought it was interesting to revist this after it played out. And Chap, if you keep going the way of George and posting ridiculous things, you're probably going to continue to get dissenting opinions from me because it's really only the ridiculous posts that are fun to comment on. ;)

oh, and one more thing, Chap, I think it's time to change to decaf. ;)

and... ;) just for good measure.

My daughter and my mom in law just went to see it today. First time for grandma, second time for my daughter. I plan to see it at IMAX, or at least try. My wife has seen it twice.

It's got legs, yo....still pulled in 48 mil or so this week, just barely in second place.

That actually is pretty funny. You think this is the first post you've done this with? The point is that you do it on almost every single post I ever write, whether it's on this board or the Suns one. ;)

it's got legs like any other summer movie, as in wobbly ones. down 58% on it's first weekend and it's gonna be down another 48% this weekend. That's pretty much par for the course for the big blockbusters this year, all of which got out faster, with bigger opening numbers (except for Transformers, but that moviactually DOES have legs, falling off only 47% on it's second weekend and 44% in it's third). That's why it won't catch up - especially with monsters like Bourne and Rush Hour 3 looming in the next couple weeks.

here's a good link which shows the breakdown of films competing against it's each other this summer for the box-office crown:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?view=daily&id=summer07.htm

still looks like possibly 5 300 million dollar movies if Potter gets to the finish line, which has got to be a record for a three month period.

well, Chap, that's because most of the time, you tend to say things that I don't agree with.

still, am I really so in your head that you need to put me in your signature? That's just... sheesh, I don't know what that is.

What's really funny, cheese, is for the first year I was here, I thought you and Chap were brothers. :D

You have no sense of humor. At all. It's sad, actually.

that is funny and I can see that as we do seem to have some earmarking of sibling rivalrly.

however, my brothers and I pretty much see eye to eye on sports - hell, you usually see us post one after another, not realizing we're posting at the same time. it's kind of scary. you realize that Ouchie's my brother, right?

Putting aside our little argument, that actually is kind of scary. I always did find it odd that you and Ouchie seemed to have opinions that were exactly alike. Whenever I disagree with you, I know for a fact that you'll have him behind you posting against me as well. Good thing to have.

Yes, but it took me awhile to accept the truth of that because you get along so well. You and Chap are more like my relationship to my brothers ... lovingly antagonistic. hehe

you obviously didn't read the Michael Vick thread.

And why is it a good thing to have? We're not at war here Chap. It's only a message board.

The Michael Vick thread? No, I found it difficult to read through that one. :D

It is only a message board, you're 100% correct. But if you expect me to keep that in mind, I would hope everyone else would as well.

That said, I might be wrong about Harry Potter being the top money earner this summer. ;)
