37 in 40 minutes. Not quite a point a minute.

It was a great performance, but I recall Adam Morrison putting up a bunch of points in a summer league game last year. We'll see how he pans out.

Would the Suns have still traded the 24th if Belinelli was still on the board?
Supposedly Belinelli is the player we wanted, so I'd say we would have kept the pick, but you never know.

The only time I went to a summer league game, then-rookie Casey Jacobsen scored something like 38. He was pretty easily the best player on the floor, and that included his teammate at the time, Amare somebody.

I believe it was reported that the Suns were selling the pick before Belinelli was drafted. The day after I remember Gambo saying that he reported it somewhere around the time the 13th pick was announced.

It widely figured that the Suns were targeting Belinelli and finally decided to make the #24 pick deal once he was off the boards. However, it was certainly discussed well before hand.

We don't know who else was on their board besides Belinelli. If the workout was any indication, it might have included Stucky. As for any others, to my knowledge nothing has been reported.

My memory slips. I might as well throw Kwame Brown into the mix.

Oops, I forgot Michael Olowokandi. Being selected #1 is not always a sure thing. I will not take up the the issue of overall #2 selections.

I just got back to the hotel from the gym, Marco's game was the best shooting performance I have seen in my life. BC was even yelling out "are you kidding me" when he nailed that contested 30 footer.

Also, he would have been gone before 24 I was guaranteed today.

It wasn't just the shooting either. He was defending well, saw the court better than any player that has played yet and even went hard after some rebounds.

Sounds like a very good fit with the GS team... that is who picked him, isn't it?

Yeah, and lucky for them, because their other draft day choice has been a bust so far

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi...ght_out_of_vsl_opener_possibly_entire_summer/

The Warriors were without Brandan Wright for Saturday's opener, and possibly for the rest of summer league, with an injury that caught the coaching staff off-guard.

Wright has a strained right hip flexor and is sitting out practices for the foreseeable future. The new Warrior said the injury occurred in April during an informal workout with his former North Carolina teammates after their NCAA Tournament run ended, and never fully healed during the pre-draft process.

"It's real sore," Wright said Friday. "I haven't rested these last two months, so we'll take it real slow. It really hasn't gotten better."

Wright auditioned last month for teams with the third through 10th picks in the NBA draft, including two stops through Memphis and a last-minute audition in Phoenix.

The Warriors, who acquired him in a draft-day deal with Charlotte for Jason Richardson, were hoping to finally see their raw power forward up-close and in action this week. But Wright is taking the cautious approach, even if it delays his debut until training camp.

"I wouldn't call it a disappointment -- it is what it is," said coach Don Nelson, who said he was surprised to learn about the injury Thursday night. "He needs the experience. The more he gets, the better for him."
This is the guy who refused multiple player workouts pre-draft.

Now it turns out he is injured for the summer. Biggest draft bust so far!

I strained my left hip flexor bowling(!).

The recovery process for that is no joke. Even with a pro team's resources, I imagine it will take a couple of months to rehab it properly.

He's got some quality experience in international competition, and he played the whole game. It's impressive, but needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I mean the Celtics summer league team absolutely destroyed Portland last night, but that doesn't mean crap.

I attend these Summer League games every year and I am set to be in Vegas July 13th - July 16th. I will say already from watching these games the competition gets better and better with each passing year. If you put up 30 in a game your not a hack, and your worthy of gaining some quality minutes in the NBA. 4+years ago the Summer League games I swore I couldve suited up and scored at least 10 point and dished 10 assist. Its really different now in many degrees, its getting closer to preseason style games.

Are we now going to mourn over all the guys we could have taken if we had our choice? The only reason this thread is here is because the Suns were interested and missed out. Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? To once again say that the FO failed in the off-season? I don't get it.

It would sound like the Suns FO did a great job, the problem was that Cavs messed up the pick. It was #24 and not #16, so Belinelli was not available after GS took him at #18. I have not heard any evidence that the deal was agreed upon until after GS picked.

Whatever. The point is, where is the "Oden sucked in his first preseason game" thread? (Actually I just saw one about Oden and Durant, so I guess that argument is moot :) ) Two years ago we heard how great Nate Robinson was in the preseason. Last year it was Sergio. At least Sergio was someone that we "could" have had, unlike Marco.

And perhaps you should heed your own advice... ;)

I agree. I would have like a second first round pick, but getting rid of JJ for a couple of years of Hill is as good - if not better - for now.

Did I see Toby Bailey and Milt Palacio and one Jackon Vroman on those rosters? Crazy.
