FSC shows English Prem, Serie A.. Gol is La Liga and Bundesliga and Setanta is mainly English Prem and Championship, Scottish... with Rugby thrown in....

I get Setanta through Direct tv, not sure if its available through comcast or not.. its basically a channel you pay 12 bucks a mo for... worth every penny because they also have MUTV which shows every Man U game and behind teh scenes type stuff as well...

We have setanta over here but its the other way round, i get it because it has NASN (North American Sports Network) as one of the channels you get through the package.. It gives me all NCAA stuff - football and hoops, MLB, and shows like Around the Horn and PTI ( oh and NHL)

It has started getting more football/soccer in the last few years but there is only so much you can watch with a game everyday on Sky sports anyway just about. It also has all 5 of Sunderland preseaosn friendlies on live this year too.

As for the the bandwagon question - its tough one. Its a little like picking the cowboys i suppose but if you just want a team to follow and you want ot watch games then why the hell not. Jeez theres were times beofre the internet that i got to see the Cards in highlights only about twice a year for 2 minutes a pop and i'm thinking how lucky the other 'big' teams fans must be seeing live games all the time in the UK.

But for a real taste of what sport is about then look around, find a team from a place you like or might visit or even colour! then follow with them with all you have to give! If you look hard enough you will of course end up being a Sunderland fan so i can sace you the trouble on that one ;)

always bleed red (and white)

Well, I have jerseys for Arsenal and Juventus, so maybe that would answer all the questions... :)

I know it's bad, so here are my 4 teams I'll be trying (probably not very well) to follow:

Arsenal
-- Only reason I picked them is that I have an old kit of theirs from a long time ago
Barcelona
-- I really like Ronaldhino
Juventus
-- Also have an old kit
Bayern Munich
-- Mostly just name recognition

Yes, these teams are very recognizable, but I don't have much of a clue as to how dominating they are in their leagues, so that makes the choices a lot easier. There is an Italian Series B club I'd probably follow if I could, but it will probably be too hard to get any info here in L.A.

I watched the May game between Barca and Real Madrid, and RMD just KILLED Barcelona. Barcelona just looked awful in that game, but Real was pretty amazing.

In response to the glory supporter (bandwagon) question. I don't think it is, so long as you stick with that team for the rest of time. Once you pick a team you CAN'T CHANGE EVER!

not really anything to get excited over just yet though eh!

still, the noises coming out of the club seem to say a few in the next week or so.

lets hope there is some quality in there.
K Jones out for at least two months. At least that ****** goalie apologized. Not.

23 million for the four players together seems a lot like but i think they all improve the squad. saying that if spurs dont want them then they must be laughing about picking up 23 mil - shame we cant get bent.

even if we get one or two of them it will improve us though, no doubt about that.

Yup. Sundy had some serious gaps in talent last season. The more premier league caliber talent the better. They don't have to be great, just competent for the top flight.

Listen to me pretend to know what I am talkin about.

you are spot on though!

we have a first team capable of staying up and better - the squad is not premier standard though. This will upgarde in a couple of spots and will add depth.

The trick will be moving on the old guard (mcshane et al) and keeping the old first choices happy in being squad players.

Not easy because after a year of playing the prem lge its easy to go and look for first team football.

I am a moderate soccer fan, and was thinking about getting more into the Premier League stuff. Only problem is, I don't have a team that I would follow more than any other! I used to like Arsenal back in the late 90's, but now I am not so sure. Should I like Arsenal or is that like liking the Yankees? Please help!!

From what I've learned, today's Arsenal is around the 3rd or 4th best team in the Premiere League--Chelsea and Man United seem to be secure in the top 2 spots.

Arsenal is my new team, and I'm still getting to know them, so I would think it's as good as any.

But there is some parity--yesterday I watched a match from last season with Chelsea and Aston Villa--it was one of the best football matches I've ever seen. Ballack was a substitute for Chelsea (he was brought in early for an injured Frank Lampard) and after that, Chelsea didn't have Lampard, John Terry and Drogba, arguably their best players. Aston Villa actually got a red card early and were down to 10 men. Later, Chelsea ended up getting 2 red cards and it was 10 vs. 9 later in the game.

The score ended up 4-4 and it had everything, plays off of set pieces, penalty kicks, midfield holding possession, defenders scoring, you name it. It was an amazing game. I don't know much about Aston Villa, but that might be an interesting team to follow as well.

I think I watched some of that. Really good. It just shows to go you:)))
that, in the right circumstances, soccer can be VERY entertaining. Not always, but sometimes.

No, never heard of it. I'll try to check it out.

Watching all this football (and I basically spent all day Sunday watching game after game--ah, the joys of being single) has made me want to dust off the old typewriter and write a sports movie about the game---there are so few of those nowadays... :D
