If anyone wants to know more about celebrity supporters of SAFC, go to my blog Salut! Sunderland - www.salutsunderland.typepad.com - where I have started posting a series of interviews I carried out for 5573, now called Wear Down South, magazine of the London branch of the supporters' association.
Tim Rice, Kate Adie (top Brit TV reporter), Robert Kane (singer with band Dr Feelgood, Alan Price (Animals) are among those already there and I am adding onm average one a week, updating where possible..........but forget Peter O'Toole. His agent told me he lost interest when we left Roker Park. The final piece I post will be one about him and others who got away........meanwhile, here's to three points at Barnsley

Derby drew with Leicester today so we need the max points vs Wolves tomorrow. That would get the Black Cats within a point of the Rams.

aye it was a good result after they led for so long!

off to the game in about half and hour - reckon we might be pushing for a full house today. I have the nasty gut thought that bid mick mac will come back to haunt us today though.

Birmingham play Burnley at home so that 3 points in the bag for them - so its must win for us! - fingers crossed and i will have a pie and a pint for you at half time Renz

Sunderland 2-1 Wolves

Mission accomplished! Burnley somehow beat Birmingham at St. Andrews :D . Black Cats now one point behind Derby and two ahead of Birmingham (although Birmingham has a game in hand). Ain't no stoppin' us now!

Southampton 1-2 Sunderland

What a weekend for Sunderland! Top of the table now after Derby drew and Birmingham lost again. Even with a game in hand, Birmingham can't pass the Black Cats if they keep winning. Looking extremely good for a Top 2 finish with only four matches to play.

Still unbeaten in league play in 2007. Remarkable.

This run is amazing. I just started closely following English soccer last season, so I have only known Sunderland as a "3-point ATM." Even the beginning of this season started horribly for them, if IIRC. It's great that a club with such a large and strong fan base will probably make it back to the Prem. There are too many teams in the top flight (that aren't even fighting relegation) that have too many empty seats. I'll be rooting for them to close out with four wins.

Come on, Compa, the team you need is already in the top flight...Newcastle United :D Sure, we've had a tough year, but we always stay in the Premiership, and when we actually have Owen back and a lot of our injured players, we'll contend.
