Southampton 1-2 Sunderland

What a weekend for Sunderland! Top of the table now after Derby drew and Birmingham lost again. Even with a game in hand, Birmingham can't pass the Black Cats if they keep winning. Looking extremely good for a Top 2 finish with only four matches to play.

Still unbeaten in league play in 2007. Remarkable.

What a weekend - just got my tickets for QPR on sat this morning (should be pushing a full house i think).

I have been waitinf ro weeks now for the wheels to fall off but they just keep going!

now if Brum lose their game in hand and Ipswich do us a favour on sat....... ( i spend about an hour a night looking at the table and looking at the fixtures for other teams to work out where we finsh - its killing me this like!) :pullhair: :D

:D Me too. I was expecting them to drop points against one or all of Cardiff/Wolves/Southampton, but like you said, they just won't be stopped. I was following the Southampton game on the net and I almost fell out of my chair when Leadbitter scored that second goal. :)

Raise a pint for me this Saturday.

will do mate!

my Dad is in an exec box this Sat with a load of former Sunderland players (a bloke lives in his street that played for Sunderland in the 1950's and is taking him as his guest) which is really cool for him to meet some of his old heros!

I will be in the cheap seats, but i'll be sure to have a beer for you :D

Well, it looks like Newcastle is finishing with a bust. Luckily I think we're safely out of the relegation zone, but yikes! I guess you knew it was going to be bad when 2 of our 3 strikers were out for the season. Also the other slew of injuries killed us. We would have been hard-pressed to beat the Black Cats recently, that's for sure!

Well, here's to hoping for player health next year. If we keep *****, add another defender, and get everyone healthy, we should be able to have a VERY good season next year. Hopefully, Sunderland will be right there with us (without beating us, of course ;) )

I had a bad feeling all week about the Colchester match. :( Gotta beat Burnley on Friday to put the pressure on Derby. The Rams will have a tough time at Palace, I hope.

Hopefully, the Black Cats will still clinch promotion this weekend.

I know what you mean. I started to get that sinking feeling when Derby beat Luton 1-0. If we beat Burnley I think we finish in the top 2. I think this Friday will be the key to the season. I'll be at the SOL with you in spirit. :)

Both Derby and Brum have tougher matches to finish the season, IMO, but we still have to win them. :|

The finish to this season is amazing. The 3rd place team will have to avoid a letdown as they will have many more points than the other three teams.

Two matches to go and still 10 different teams have a very realistic shot at ending up in the playoffs.

Colchester could still make the playoffs. Would they be allowed in the Premiership with their tiny stadium (capacity 6000 or so)?

its a bit of a joke really - but i suppose if you are good enough to get there then why does it matter how big your ground is!!

they only gave us 800 tickets for the match and we prob had about 1500 there included those who bought home end tickets - on top of that there 6000 that went down to Colchester in the hope of getting tickets of home fans and sat outside the ground listening on the radio - i swear no other club would have that support or be that stupid ;) ! - shame we lost

Crystal Palace 2-0 Derby County

The Black Cats have done it! Congratulations to Quinny, Keano, the players and all the great Sunderland fans, like Ben. What a turnaround after losing the first four league matches! The future looks bright at the Stadium of Light. :D
