Maybe. Not sure why they would. Teams used to make trades for "future considerations." I have not seen that one in a while.

Doesn't matter. Its just idle speculation about possibilites.

90 minutes or so now.

So 2:00 is the deadline?

It is against the rules to offer compensation in exchange for a team not matching an offer. Regardless, NO was not interested in receiving compensation for Gordon. Otherwise, they would have engaged in sign-and-trade discussions prior to Wednesday.

NO to soon release statement saying they've matched Eric Gordon's Suns offer sheet. Gordon states commitment to Hornets and fan appreciation

The sign and trade is a possibility right up to the matching deadline. It does require that both teams involved and the player agree to rescind the original offer the player signed. This came from Larry Coon a couple of days ago.

During this whole FA process I have gone from wanting Gordon to wishing the Suns would have the CAP space to pursue other options.

Well, dodged one bad contract bullet, now lets jump in the way of the shotgun that OJ Mayo's agent has ponited at us.

A Sleazley sized deal I'd be OK with. Anything thats more than 7-8 mil annually and 3 years... gross.

My money is on 4 years 32 million. Prove me wrong Babby!

if we sign Mayo to 4 years 32 million bucks, we're morons.

What's your plan?

i would re-sign Shannon Brown to a one year deal. Let the team completely bottom out this year, get a really high lotto pick and then try to dip into FA against next year. Tying up 25 million dollars in cap space with Goran, Mayo and Beasely for the next three years just doesn't seem wise to me moving forward.

Mayo and Scola here we come.

Certainly they could obtain those two for less than what they were committing to Gordon.

I don't see the point with Scola's age. I don't mind if the Suns take flyers on young players who have potential. If they succeed, we win. If they fail, we get more ping pong balls. With the older players, success is the worst thing that can happen.

gottsa agree with this. even though i worry about mayo at 32 for 4, at least he's young and has potential. getting scola at 32 for 10 mill per just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Brown won't sign a 1 year deal.

That may be where Courtney Lee comes into play. Brown played well on a 1 year contract last season so I can see where he would want a multi-year contract for security reasons. Still if he were offered a 1 year contract for 6M, he should still have time to seek a longer contract later on as he is only 26.
