For all the crap people give him, he does seem to have some legitimate sources. He did break the Nash story.

Gambo is one of Sarver's very good friends. You can pretty much assume that when it comes to the Suns, he knows what he is talking about.

Other sports, he talks out of his ass a lot.

Hornets fans on another board are complaining that the Suns wrote Gordon's statement about not liking the city. They love that the Hornets are "sticking it to us" and not matching right away.

I swear, are there any less knowledgeable fans in all the NBA? Laker fans are bandwagonners and Spurs fans are just jerks, but at least they know what they are talking about most of the time.

Do we forget Gambo was the one saying Tmac and Bryant were going to be Suns?

Yeah, over the winter he had a few Dback trades that he thought were days from going down that never happened and were never rumored anywhere else.

Someone at RealGM posted this. Don't know the accuracy, but it sounds like a strategy the front office would do--front load the contract then have the final year be the lowest salary.

Wow... if those are the actual terms... its a brutal, brutal contract. Clever structuring by the Suns, I didnt know max deals could be structured in such a nasty way. It will make him even harder for New Orleans to trade if he truly hates it there. Hope the Hornets save the Suns from themselves though.

Front loading deals is pretty standard for RFA. I'm fairly certain those numbers are off(I don't think you can give raises based on the bonus pay), but regardless it's not really that bad since that's not the amount that actually counts towards the cap.

Yes.. when it comes to the Suns, Gambo hits it on way more often than he is wrong..

Also remember he nailed Kendall Marshal 3 days before the draft as well.. Gambo may be dense, but when it comes to Suns news, he usually knows what he is talking about..

Even when he gets it wrong, its often because his info is too much inside. Looks like something is going to happen, he reports it, and then circumstances change unexpectedly.

Maybe Miami fans?

I was actually listening that day. He never said they were going to be Suns. He did say, however, that it's something the Suns would have the ability to do & and would like to do. If I recall, didn't they offer Kobe to the max? Which he turned down? (Obviously.)

Please don't generalize about the fan base based on a handful of idiots on a message board. I know plenty of extremely knowledgeable Hornets fans here.

He was on TV back when fox sports had their local Sportscenter type show. He said the Suns were going to land TMac and Kobe. Of course this was while ownership was changing hands so there may have been miscommunication since Sarver is his contact.

The Suns did try to trade for TMac but never offered Kobe a contract. Suns went after Nash day 1 and Kobe strung out his free agency for a few weeks.

Just thinking over this Eric Gordon situation while we are waiting on N.O. to make a decision.

If Eric Gordon would have not spoken to N.O. front office after he signed the Phoenix offer sheet (I'm not talking about his agent) it would seem this would be a way to force his way out of town. Wouldn't the N.O. front office want to sit down with Gordon before the 14th to see if they have a player happy playing there for the max money?

I can't see where N.O. would want to wait until the last minute to have this conversation no matter how they feel about the Suns offer.

The hornets retain a bit of cap flexibility while leaving the Suns waiting. Right now they have a cap hold of something like 9 million for Eric Gordon, but as soon as they match the offer they will take his full 14 million for next year onto their books. So waiting gives them about 5 million extra wiggle room over the 3 days to make trades and potential signings.

It is actually like 20 million next year.

LAS VEGAS — Although Eric Gordon proceeded with his exit plan after expressing his desire to play for the Phoenix Suns, the Hornets are expected to match the Suns’ four-year, $58 million offer sheet today to retain him, sources confirmed.

***
Now that Gordon has signed the offer sheet, the Hornets cannot complete a sign-and-trade agreement with the Suns. After the Hornets match the offer, they could trade Gordon to any team except Phoenix, but Gordon has veto power on any trade in the first year of the contract.

Good find.

I think most everyone on the board agreed that Gordon cannot be moved by sign and trade to another team once N.O. matches until sometime in December or possibly January. The team cannot be Phoenix. There is a window where a sign and trade cannot occur if N.O. matches. I guess technically correct but misleading IMO.

For the money PHX was going to pay Mayo they could probably get Mayo & Kris Humphries. Humphries may be able to be had on the cheap as it turns out he isn't really drawing a lot of interest. PHX would appeal to his penchant for clubbin' and he may be able to find his next baby momma in Scottsdale. We may lose flexibility but are there really any better rebounders with some defensive skills still available that are better than Humphries?

A lineup of:

Dragic
Mayo
Beasley
Humphries
Gortat

Bench:
Morris
Frye
Dudley
Telfair
Marshall
Warrick
Fillers (Jordan Hill, CJ Miles)

This team would not be a playoff team but it is a young team with a lot of potential and add in a lottery pick and PHX may be in business. Of course Lopez would be gone as PHX would not be able to bring him back if they get Humphries but it seems like PHX is in no hurry to re-sign him and may be looking for his replacement.

In regard to the Suns pursuing free agents at the top of my list, I had Ersan İlyasova and Kris Humphries so you are like preaching to the choir. :)

The lineup you propose, if doable, is definitely a playoff team IMO.

I asked Larry Coon. If NOH matches they can't trade him to us for the first year. Theoretically they could next year. Also the deadline is Dec 15th and any trade this year must be with his permission.

Thanks for the information. It sounds correct.

I have heard of the December 15th date but I have also heard some members of the media mentioning January in reference to other players. I don't know if the January date is wrong or it pertains to other type contracts.

I am wondering if a virtual sign and trade is still possible. If both teams are under the cap, they could simply agree to do TWO things at the same time.

The Hornets agree not to match.

The Suns agree to trade a player or picks to the Hornets for nothing, or even to take back a less desirable contract. I can't see how this would be against the rules.

Its not a sign and trade. Its just an agreement not to match.

No way, the league would reject this.

Maybe. Not sure why they would. Teams used to make trades for "future considerations." I have not seen that one in a while.

Doesn't matter. Its just idle speculation about possibilites.

90 minutes or so now.
