ok give it a rest, jez, it's not like this team is full of great defenders. If you can't seehow the culture of poor defense influences Amare then you are just lost.
Who makes the Suns' culture? Amare is supposed to be one of this team's leaders. Steve Nash is severely limited from a physical standpoint, but you can easily see that he is trying his hardest to move his feet and keep his man in front of him. Raja Bell was first team All-NBA defense last year. Skinner has shown toughness and resolve down low.
I'm not complaining persay, I just don't understand it. In all other aspects of Amare's game, he has always shown that he is a man of his word. From everything I've read, he is an extremely hard worker at improving his game. He has becoming a great midrange shooter. He has been the unfortunate victim of knee injuries that have visibly limited his athleticism, but that is not his fault. But, your excuse of "its the Suns culture" doesn't hold water. It's not like he doesn't know that he could help this team's fortunes immensely by improving on the defensive end. The Suns' culture hasn't limited him from knowing that his defense needs to improve. One of the easiest ways that he could improve would be to play the post correctly, and every indication that he has given me is that he knows this. Yet, he continues to wait until Tim Duncan gets the ball to start playing.
If he was Shawn Marion, I could understand - Marion might just be too dumb to recognize his deficiencies and work to consciously improve them. But not Amare. So the question I have is: if he knows its a problem, and he has worked to improve any of the other problems in his game, why doesn't he improve this glaring weakness?
