Jeesh! Duncan is such a big baby. Stayed around on the court to whine some more to the refs at the end of the half.

Lame.

This game so far somewhat confirms my suspicions in that Diaw and Stat can coexist on the court. It works when Diaw is on the the block and Amare is at the opposite elbow.

Ha..how funny. Feed Amare = instant points, and extra fouls on the opposing teams big man. FEED HIM MORE. This team ignores him so much, it's pathetic.

ok give it a rest, jez, it's not like this team is full of great defenders. If you can't seehow the culture of poor defense influences Amare then you are just lost.

Who makes the Suns' culture? Amare is supposed to be one of this team's leaders. Steve Nash is severely limited from a physical standpoint, but you can easily see that he is trying his hardest to move his feet and keep his man in front of him. Raja Bell was first team All-NBA defense last year. Skinner has shown toughness and resolve down low.

I'm not complaining persay, I just don't understand it. In all other aspects of Amare's game, he has always shown that he is a man of his word. From everything I've read, he is an extremely hard worker at improving his game. He has becoming a great midrange shooter. He has been the unfortunate victim of knee injuries that have visibly limited his athleticism, but that is not his fault. But, your excuse of "its the Suns culture" doesn't hold water. It's not like he doesn't know that he could help this team's fortunes immensely by improving on the defensive end. The Suns' culture hasn't limited him from knowing that his defense needs to improve. One of the easiest ways that he could improve would be to play the post correctly, and every indication that he has given me is that he knows this. Yet, he continues to wait until Tim Duncan gets the ball to start playing.

If he was Shawn Marion, I could understand - Marion might just be too dumb to recognize his deficiencies and work to consciously improve them. But not Amare. So the question I have is: if he knows its a problem, and he has worked to improve any of the other problems in his game, why doesn't he improve this glaring weakness?

i think its more that the team doesnt want to have to, or need to, rely on just feeding amare. although they could, they just have so many scoring options

So far so good. Nash has again too many tos. But the approach is the right one. Let's play Spurs' pace as they want, they will be able to force it in the playoffs anyway. Let TD get his pts and shut everybody esle done.

Despite TD dominating, Amare did admirably good job on defense. His help defense and rotation has been timely and his offense is not that imposing but still very effective.

Diaw is great up to one decision when he passed for turnover right under the basket, instead of going up strong to try to draw a foul on TD with his favorable position. And without running so much, Hill seems to have good legs for his drives and jumpers.

Let's keep it up!

In a van...down by the river.
Predictably slow tempo.
Another poster eluded to how the SPURS can get the SUNS spaced out on defense. So true. They(spurs) sure love to speed up the tempo when Duncan sits though.

You want to know why there weren't many floppers in the 80s? Because teams like the Pistons would knock them flat on their butt for playing like that. I wish we would do that to this Spurs team.
