Also Paul Coro now writing about it in an article at azcentral dated 9-23-14. I guess tomorrow could be a big day.

League sources confirmed that there have been renewed contract talks between Suns executives and Bledose's representatives since the weekend. Yahoo! also reported that the progress was significant enough that a deal could be in place by the start of training camp.

There could be resolution as early as the end of business Wednesday.

This is exactly what should have happened the first week of free agency. Oh well. It was his right to stretch it out to the very end to see what kind of deal he could draw.

Get it done quick. 4/52 or 4/54 with the PO-doesn't matter to me. I am sure it will be front loaded. That makes sense for both parties.

It's going to be $60M/4yr and we're all going to wonder why the Suns office dragged their heels so long if they were just going to cave and pay him the near-max anyway.

I don't know...it's hard to imagine they'd give in at this point. I anticipate the final number to be closer to 55. In any event, I'm glad they're getting something done. Outside of some injury concerns, I think Bled is a great young talent.

If we can sign both he and Goran to 13-14 mil dollar contracts, I'll feel pretty good about our flexibility going forward.

Will have been? This thread could do without about 950-1000 posts. I think it's already been a waste, which is why I've chosen not to come back to it until there was significant progress on a contract or trade.

Basically a 4/54 that starts at the max and declines. 15, 14, 13, 12 or something like that. My prediction.

I am impressed with your self-control. The rest of us are just compulsive suns talkers. Suns news junkies. If they ever start charging for visiting I am going to borrow Rex's shopping bag and head for the Apple store.

Just be sure to switch stores after your 8th trip

You have to give Rich Paul some kudos.

Like I said a few days ago all this speculating was worthless. The negotiating would be near the end and until then it is a starring contest and it seems Rich Paul got Eric Bledsoe maybe 8-10M$ more than if he had just accepted the first offer.

The only questionable thing Eric Bledsoe did was never being in Phoenix to workout with his teammates and being in the community he might have earned himself more with that.

Seriously? He wouldn't negotiate even when Sarver publicly said they were willing to do so. Paul has tried every trick in the book to manipulate the situation and when all is said and done, it looks like they'll agree on a price the Suns likely would have accepted two months ago.

IMO, if it's a 4 year contract, it's a win for us no matter where they settle. If it's a player option for the last year, I'd say Bledsoe's camp got more than we wanted to give. I don't think we'd have blinked at matching a max offer but I doubt we want to pay a premium for him without getting a little offset once the salary cap shoots up.

And what would have been their advantage of accepting the same offer 2 months ago that they could get 2 days before the deadline still?

Rich Paul did everything right, he tried to maximize what Bledsoe would get.

I'm not so sure. Those first few weeks in NBA free agency are critical, and by all indications Rich Paul did absolutely nothing with Bledsoe during that time, instead devoting everything to LeBron... who was going to get whatever contract he wanted with whatever team he wanted regardless of his agent. By the time there was any peep about Bledsoe's situation most of the free agent money and destinations had been gobbled up... leaving this ugly stalemate to carry out.

Sure, he may have done the best for his client from late July on, but if he had been more aggressive early this may have been resolved more favorably towards Bledsoe (both financially and PR) and much faster than it was.

Agreed, ONLY if you dont take into account the first few weeks of FA when his sole focus was Lebron. IMO Bledsoe could have EASILY worked out a max or near max contract with another team that the suns would have been forced to match or let him go. Teams like Houston/Dallas/Miami/Utah/LA all had SIGNIFICANT space AND a potential need for a guy like Bledsoe. In that regard Paul failed badly.

IF we disregard those first few weeks, then the compromise found in-between the 4/48 and the potential 4/64 will be a mutual win for both sides.

I will say though, if Paul had not ignored Bledsoe at the beginning of the FA period then right now we would be talking about one of two things:

a.) why we should not have matched a 4/64 contract
b.) why we should have matched a 4/64 contract.

i am 100% sure that if Paul had tried he would have found at least one team who would have at least offered a tender for the max that the suns would have had to match OR a team willing to make space to gain the cap room.

Nobody knows that Rich Paul ignored Bledsoe.

I doubt he had to spend much time on Lebron at all. It seems not team made Bledsoe a serious offer or at least no team that Bledsoe was willing to risk signing with.

After all this delay if he signs and doesn't perform well he's definitely going to be the franchise "Whipping Boy."

Doesn't that describe MOST threads? Especially during the NBA offseason?

Felt like he was that anyway at least for all the redneck fans out there who felt threaten by him taking spotlight away from Dragic.

He failed to get his client a max offer. That's not doing everything right. Anything less than 4/63 and the Suns won this negotiation big time. Sarver said two months ago that 4/48 was their opening offer.

It does not matter who WON the negotiating.

Rich Paul left himself with the opportunity to get more money for the longest time he could. That is smart especially since Bledsoe is now getting more than what the Suns originally offered anyway.

But there was a chance he could have gotten a max offer in that time instead of taking the first offer immediately.

Also the whispers going around are saying 5yrs/72M$.

The actual deal will answer the question. They wanted 5 years and the Suns offered 4. We'll see who "wins." But IMO at 4 years and more money they both win.
