I may be misreading things but I believe the board has been great the last month. Lots of good discussions on the draft and people aren't agreeing but it hasn't been personal.

It's the best it's been in a long long time - there's probably a reason for that

We're going to miss you around here slin, unless you get around to editing or deleting your last post before someone makes an issue out of it.

Thank you Chris - I said privately how wrong it is that we come to asfn for enjoyment and have to put up with a little angry man show, so I'm now saying it publicly (if I haven't already).

And I take my ban on the chin, I over stepped the mark with my joke so apologies for that; I tried to delete it but had been already quoted.

A pretty heavily ironic series of events I might add!

A guy telling the board to grow thicker skin over name calling, only to report me for name calling, and me saying I've never insulted anybody on this board, only to insult somebody on this board (even though it was strictly a joke, albeit too close to the edge as mentioned).

Sure you never insulted anyone on this board. That private message in my inbox you sent me in december where you apologized for your behavior must be imaginary.

Let's try a little honestly here, okay? You've now stated several times that you didn't get personal but that's not true. You called him names in several posts and much later on (days, maybe weeks) you went back and deleted them. You even posted the fact that you were going back and deleting those posts.

I think it stinks you continue to wash yourself clean when you've wandered around here with gasoline and matches for several months. Slin crossed the line, several times, but he had help and crawling up on the cross like this is cowardly IMO.

Honestly I think his initial reaction (of a ban) was justified and he only brought it up in a thread to give the board a chance to support you. You aren't helping your case here slin, calling someone a liar is about as bad as you can go here IMO.

There is a technical difference - I'm responding to his antagonism and not vice versa; you'll notice the board is fine when he's not around but isn't when he is. It's not me making it that way.

Sorry to edit out his quote but I remove any public questioning of mods. That is why I was PMing him.

From your perspective, sure, but from his, quite the opposite. Part of that has to do with a difference in language and culture and part of it is just the personalities involved.

I understand and actually expected it. I do realize how ground-breaking this approach has been for this forum.

I work for a German company, he speaks perfectly good english and there is no language barrier.

On the very thread we were discussing his ban - while he was banned - I gave a perfectly good account of how it's him doing the antagonsing and not the other way around; perhaps you missed it because you weren't here for a bit, but I know plenty of others - particularly kingdad who was the target of slinslins personal attacks - can back this up.

So yeah, no doubt I antagonise him but that's only because I call out his angry childish bullsh*t out for what it is.

Slin I apologize already for my bad joke!! I apologized then dude...publicy and privately. At least I try to make the board fun....not always successfully apparently.

I don't know what your goal is broski. Just chill out because we don't need a bad vibe. I think we're on here to talk suns not make each other feel bad for stuff... that's what the real world is for.

I stopped posting, I didn't stop reading. I stopped posting because of the personal attacks. I saw him go after a couple of posters without justification (from them) but the fire had already been lit and you were a part of it.

From his perspective, how do you think he feels any time someone wants to disagree with him, they do so by mocking him for a decade old opinion? This wasn't you but how many times have you seen someone say "what do you expect from the guy that claims Magic isn't a point guard"?

Doing that makes it personal and it sets the stage for his aggressive responses. And when he responded aggressively he got hammered from many sources. Which, in turn, exacerbated the situation and led to more attacks from him and towards him.

Steve no one in their right mind can seriously be arguing slinslins case; he does the antagonising, gets a reaction, cries wolf and repeats the process. You've just seen what he's done with the Mods - it's socially unacceptable behaviour, and he repeatedly does it.

As Chris said, the board's been really good for the month that hes not been here - I said it's the best it's been for years....I'm telling you bud, this is not a coincidence.

As Chris said - and I supported - the board is literally the best it's been for years while he's not been here; this is not a coincidence.

You keep looking for someone to blame, maybe try a different approach. This board benefits from slin's presence IMO, it benefits from yours too. But it doesn't benefit from you following him around looking for something to pounce on.

If you call someone a moron at work, you'd likely be suspended or fired.

If you call someone a moron on the street you'd likely get knocked out.

If it's socially unacceptable behaviour publicly, why should it be any different in a private chat room?

Until he learns he should not be allowed to post here, and he's just proven he's not capable of doing that by kicking off on another aggressive, name calling tirade against the mods not two seconds back from a ban.

I really don't need to find someone to blame when that person has just gone and proven he's guilty all by himself.

I missed what happened, but I am just going to say I've enjoyed the last few weeks. We were all debating the draft, future, and stuff like that. Not once did I see anyone be anything less than civil at the very least. Until a day or two ago, that is.

I enjoy hearing different view points, presenting my own argument or thoughts, and not seeing insults and "know it all" attitude on every topic in every thread. I am looking forward to things returning back to being civil now.

I spent a few minutes randomly looking back at Suns threads from 12-13 years ago. What happened to about 80% of the posters from back then? (besides Slin?)

I see a lot of the older posters over @ phxsuns.net. Although that place is less active than here. Then there's /r/suns which almost always has a few hundred people online at any given time. Brightsideofthesun, etc.

That and the fact that the Suns have been pretty irrelevant since the mid-to-late 2000's. :help:

First off, I am glad you started posting again. You always have a unique perspective on things, you present your argument, and you engage in good, solid, civil discussion.

As far as the rest of the post, you are right- of course mocking someone exacerbates the situation. However, that's what happens when someone is just rude and convinced that their bodily excrement doesn't stink. He is like a five year old. That's going to annoy people, and people will react.

We've all had ridiculous opinions in the past, and the difference is that most of us have admited we were wrong, and laughed about it. Just yesterday or the day before, three of us (I think it was you, Mainstreet, and I) were joking about some of the big misses we've had over the years. Nobody will ever use the Tskitishvilli argument against me or Lonny Baxter against me or Mainstreet. We owned it, laughed about it, and said we are glad the Suns don't have to rely on us to be judges of talent. Slin would never do such a thing. When you get on people's nerves and act like you are the greatest thing since sliced bread, people will get cranky, and they will troll you, throwing past mistakes in your face. That's what happened to Slin. He needs to learn to present his opinion, and tolerate oposing opinions.

Not trying to disparage anyone but the main reason I stopped posting/paying close attention to the Suns forum has a lot to do with a few of the posters. There is a lot of beating of dead horses on the forum. Certain people tend to say the same exact things in each topic over and over and over.

I used to be active in the game threads - hell, even the game chat room back in the day. There was almost always 10-20 of us in the chat room and plenty in the game thread.

I barely looked at any of the game threads this season. Why? Because it was the same 4-5 people complaining any time the Suns did anything remotely positive. Suns pull off an impressive win with guys like Booker, Ulis, Williams leading the way? "WE NEED PING PONG BALLS NOT WINS." Bledsoe hits a game winning shot? "SHOULD HAVE DRAWN UP A 3 FOR CHANDLER INSTEAD SO WE COULD LOSE." Etc.

It was fun watching the young guys play well. Isn't that the point? The young players improving? You wouldn't think so going into any of the game threads later in the season.

The constant negativity is what turned me into a once-every-few-days lurker. Instead of a multiple-times-a-day poster.

Youre casting alot of stones for someone who uses very Trumpian slogans like "Tool the fool".

Ye are not holier than thou. It takes 2 to tango.
